I was raised Catholic & went to Catholic schools through high school. Growing up, I always went to mass with my parents. At 23, I married my husband, joined his 'Non-Denominational Christian' church & moved to Iowa to join up with the "head church". I was never really *comfortable* with anything that went on at my husbands church & went only when it was expected of me. When all of the accusations started coming out re: the inappropriate conduct within the Catholic church, I remember asking my husband how long until his church faced similar accusations. That was the beginning of the end of our marriage, but I never forgot asking him that. 8 years later, it happened in a very public way & the churches were dissolved within 2 weeks.There were 25 churches worldwide, with 14(?) in the US. Turns out it wasn't a church at all. I had married into a cult. Great podcast about if anyone's interested called Oops! I'm in a Cult.

She is the result of a one night stand from his high school days. Bro's Wife refuses to acknowledge this daughters existence. Despite Wife's feelings and behavior, Bro has built an awesome relationship with his daughter. Bro and Wife are still married, although I don't know how they navigate having his daughter in their lives when Wife refuses to acknowledge their relationship.
