Oh god I didn't realize this was a thing but I also find that I have subtitles on all the time if i can. I don't think it's a hearing issue, I just feel like I want the volume low because I can't take noise anymore. As I've gotten older, music, yelling, loud tv....it bothers me so much.

I'm single with no kids and like the idea of having medical personnel nearby in case something happens to me. I plan to get a life alert necklace and stay home as long as possible, but I’m okay with the idea of a nursing home. I don’t want to be lying on the floor in pain with no one knowing I’m hurt. The issue is these places are barely covered by insurance. My grandmother’s private insurance—one of the best—still requires her to spend her entire savings for lower-level care. You have to pay $80K upfront just to get in, and if they pass away immediately, that money is gone. My parents are grateful my grandfather saved so much because they couldn’t manage her care anymore. Nicer places cost millions, and it’s frustrating that elder care isn’t subsidized. It makes me question why we even pay taxes when so little actually helps people.

I definitely learned that lesson the hard way. But what it really taught me was that the way someone behaves with their friends is not always how they live. You wouldn't believe how many of your perfectly normal-seeming friends actually live disgusting lives!

Fortunately I didn't ever outwardly pay him for anything. I didn't get stuck with any bills or anything. But if the rent was 1000.50, he'd only pay 500. It was so annoying and when I confronted him he'd look at me like I was being a b*tch. I hate to generalize but I feel like men can do that to women sometimes. A woman can point out something or say something that's completely reasonable but somehow they turn it around and it makes you have to feel bad about yourself for being 'mean mommy'. I wish grown people would stop making others take care of them. A lot of the submissions are people who expect other people to clean up or pay for them because they thinks it's 'no big deal'. But little things seed a lot of resentment.

My brother was a d**g addict and criminal before he died but he was pretty smart. Years and years ago, before most companies had scannable ids an such, he bought a few different types of workman uniforms and always had a fake invoice on a clipboard. He'd go into offices with lax security and then steal the wallets from any purses he could find that were not being watched. He'd steal all kinds of things. When you see workmen in your office, most people don't think anything of it if they have any kind of clipboard or a toolbox with them. There was also a story a few years ago about some 20-somethings who bought a ladder and used their Amazon vests and snuck into a bunch of concerts by going in the service entrances. This type of thing is becoming less common with the high levels of security that exist now but it still exists.

yes. Disable the wifi first so it will boot him out. Then reconnect and log in and change everything asap. Also confront him about it and let him know if he wants to pay you half the subscription then you will share it. You might also want to update all your other passwords and make sure to run a virus scan, too, to make sure he doesn't have other things or has installed any keylogger software on your comp. Also, if you didn't give him the password, do you have it written somewhere? Because that means he was going through your stuff and found it. Whole other problem.

Unfortunately with leases, the bills are both people's responsibility. The landlord won't care. They just want the payment in full. It doesn't matter if one person can't pay. Both are responsible. So instead, she should do whatever she can to find a new roommate or move out herself. This guy is clearly a child and a bit of a creep asking this woman to say 'please' for a payment he's responsible for. Get out. And warn others about him.
