I was diagnosed with autism as a child, and I give people full permission to call me out when my behavior is upsetting. I don't always remember that most NT people aren't comfortable with "direct," or don't understand that I'm not intentionally being an a-hole when I need something a certain way because any other way makes me so stressed I might completely shut down. I think I've done a decent job studying social behaviors & learning how to assimilate, but there are times when I've had to say "apologies. I'm autistic & my brain doesn't automatically think in the hyperbolic, double-meaning, or emotional way that people generally do." Tbs, I would not use it as an excuse to be obnoxious or demand special attention. What really pisses me off is the wounded warrior charities that only exist to fleece money from gullible "patriots" to pay for veteran health care... I'm in NZ and I have all of them, including the cat I suspect is dad, booked in to be desexed early in the new year. Mama is ~ 5 months old and she just appeared one day. I started leaving food out and she stayed around. I had her booked in for a pregnant spay but she popped two days before the appointment. I named her Goose. She, and the kittens, have a house in my house in their own bedroom. The kittens are growing rapidly, the biggest boy is over 400g at 3 weeks old! I guess I have 4 furballs now.

As a teacher, I would never take points off for this answer. I would give the quiz back to the student to write the answer in the blank. It takes time to grade papers. Teachers don't have time. We take home hours of grading most nights. When someone doesn't follow the instructions, it can slow us down. Typically, I would stack papers and have the answer key to the side to grade this type of quiz. This paper would mess up my rhythm, and I would have to undo my stack of quizzes to see what was circled. It can p**s you off after this happens several times. Also, sooner or later, you need to learn to follow the directions! This is clearly at least a high school student. When will they finally get it?

The teacher is correct (yes, the answer is the same but they are asking to express it exactly as written to check that the child understands that the equation is expressed as 3 lots of 4, not 4 lots of 3. This could actually matter, say if you are giving 3 children 4 chocolates each, as opposed to 4 children 3 chocolates each. Total number is the same, but not the number in each 'group').
