Animal Medicine. Just because you put clothes on your pet doesn’t make him your child. Please don’t spend more money than you can afford. Even if we manage to get your 14 year old dog through cancer, you still have a 14 year old dog. You should not make your pet suffer because you feel sad, Fido isn’t enjoying life let him go.

As a teacher: set limits with devices and instill a love of reading your children. Students who read as a hobby *almost always* get good grades and succeed in school and beyond.

Lean into the bite.

I work in pediatrics and we’re re taught that if a child bites you, lean into it (push whatever part of you they’re biting further into their mouth) because their automatic reaction will be to open their mouth and the risk of them breaking your skin is greatly diminished.

I always feel happy when I see a bald eagle flying by. I live by a big lake where they sometimes fly by. They’re pretty rare, but it makes it so much cooler when you see one.

I was shocked at the number of American flags just everywhere. I would be hard pressed to find a Canadian flag outside of schools and government buildings. There were American flags at the mall, random streets, stores, backyards, front yards, convenience stores etc

I've lived in America for 25 years, became an American citizen last year. My first time here was during Halloween, I stayed with friends, who had bought an ungodly amount of candy for the holiday. They lived in a Denver suburb, lots of kids in the neighborhood. It was like a scene out of ET, even l when they go trick or treating, sidewalks were just full of kids. That's the most American thing I've seen, apart from free refills

People being super friendly in bars. I loved the bar vibe. In London people can be friendly but reserved first, and that wastes time. In the US people make the effort. I thought that’d be nice to share in a thread where people probably tend to badmouth American stuff.

Looks like she loves attention, and found a way to get it. I feel sorry for her kids.

Wow. She admits her child causes behavioral problems, the teacher requires all parents to sign the homework form, and yet feels her child is targeted? No, the teacher is trying to make sure that you’re informed. She’s trying to partner with you. This isn’t a power trip. This creates *more* work for her. She has to buy/plan all those prizes, keep track of who has a signature (for 25ish students), print off those forms, and contact parents. She probably doesn’t have time during school hours to do all of this (plus teaching) during her one hour of plan time and call this parent. That teacher would have to do it after everyone goes home. This is why she texts. This mom needs to sub in a school. Her child’s teacher and her child needs her to be a partner and instead she’s pulling him to “unschool” him.
