We lost my mother in September. She celebrated her 48th wedding anniversary with my dad the week before she passed. They were each others first loves, got married right after my mom graduated. Watching him trying to find joy in life and a reason to go on is heartbreaking. Please don’t neglect your elderly parents or grandparents, especially when they lose a spouse. Unfortunately most of us won’t know what it’s like to spend your life with the same person for nearly all of your adult years, people just don’t stay married anymore. I hope op continues to have a relationship with Bob. I hope my dad can get through his pain and find something to look forward to in life again.

Dammit! Floods of tears. My youngest nibling was born with only one kidney. It’s failing so they are on a list (yes, they have asked us to use they). Last year, or maybe the year before, the doctors thought they found a viable match but the donor had died in an accident and my nibling totally freaked out knowing someone had died to give them a chance at life. As things turned out, the primary surgeon found a defect in the donor kidney and rejected it. I don’t know how my sister or my nibling keep going but maybe if this recognition of the gift that donors give was everywhere, my nibling wouldn’t feel so bad. If you pray, please pray. If you don’t (I don’t) please ask the universe to provide. They are a teenager. They should be out and about, breaking rules, finding themself. They should be falling in love with the wrong person and figuring that out. No. I don’t want anyone to die to save them. I just want them to survive.

It has apparently brought me so much dumb luck it became a family meme. I still have it and I'm thinking about having it tattooed. (Granny, sadly, didn't make it through the covid pandemic, she was like a legit parent to me.)
