While the building is not going to win any awards for beauty, this is a picture of the of the corner of the rooftop carpark at the back of it. The street itself that this building is on is mostly lined with stone Georgian and Victorian buildings, and quite nice

This nonsense about flushing your body systems has got to stop. You can flush an ear canal, but that's about it. The digestive system doesn't hang on to stuff (except sometimes in the appendix), and the only way things like nutrients are saved and stored is through the bloodstream. Your organs are fed and serviced by blood and lymph. There is nothing you can ingest that will travel to your organs and clean them or rinse them or whatever. Any "toxins" you may be harboring can exit one of 2 ways ONLY: 1) out the digestive system as feces - UNALTERED, meaning it didn't interact with your body and is leaving the same way it arrived; 2) filtered by the kidney and sent out in urine. Secretion thru sweat is a myth, too. The infinitessimally small amount of anything that can exit the skin is not worth mentioning.

The low rise flats visible were intended as decent, affordable accomodation for ordinary working people. So it's 1941, the Brits are the only country not invaded by Nazi Germany, they're fighting on alone, their cities bombed to pieces by the German airforce. Supplies by boat are being blockaded by the German navy and strict rationing of food is being enforced. The Americans, finally, turn up and are staying in the UK. And what do they do? Complain about the food. And so the idea that all British food is shite, is born and now maintained, inspite of all the changes and advancements made since. 🙄

I agree that police can be scary and that it would have been better to summon a greater authority that didn't come with a gun, but who should they have looked to in order to back this up?

This one does annoy me a bit. The British Museum was not alone, indeed was far from the worst offender, in "looting" artefacts from early archaeological digs. At the time the museums were competing, not just against each other, but against private collectors, so at least the objects that they obtained were properly conserved and curated, rather than just squirrelled away in some millionaire's vault and lost to history.
