Yes, you are so right. The main is to start from somewhere, right! That's why my idea was the book to be a simple story of for a cat that can be both a bedtime reading and a helpful when trying to introduce this so complicated topic to the child.

I think this is a great way to introduce the topic with kids! I do try and manage it as best i can around smallies but it can be hard for their mom the explain why aunty x is now huddled in a darkened room not wanting to play with them lole i did earlier. Sure it will be an over simplified tool to open the topic up to kids but that's how it needs to be to begin with. Like a lot of adult topics we use things that are cute and familiar to open up a dialogue.

The message I got was BPD is like being a cat. I mean, I guess I could see some similarities, and I suppose that would be a good way to introduce the topic to kids. This is supposed to be a children's book, and kids understand things better when compared to something familiar. When I was a kid, my dad compared my mom's bipolarism to Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde (the book, not the movie), and I was like, "Ohhhh! Yep, that kind of makes sense."
