These aren't images of modern immigrants. They're historical photographs that have been colorized. When these people came to America looking for a better quality of life, most of them wound up living in slums and toiling in poverty as an exploited class of industrial workers. This is art that shows them in modern America, where even the poor have access to comparative luxuries. It's art; you have to think about it for a minute. That's how long it took me to come up with that interpretation, and I'm sure there's more symbolism to it than that, too.

I think you have some point, but there is no need to get angry over it. Art is a way to express opinions, feelings or sending a message. She made this pictures to remind people of the tragedy of many immigrants in the past, and put them in the present to make a point. This is not bad. Though yes, going out and helping would be important. There are way to many people with messages and opinions on the internet not making a real difference.

The so called American Dream is a fantasy made up by governments and the wealthy to lure cheap labour to country where they could be exploited. There is no such thing even today. The only people living the dream are the rich. The rest of the country is low income, low pay, poorly educated, unhealthy, with no health care and no social safety net. You can certainly tell the Haves by their comments. i imagine most are Republicans whose motto is 'I got mine, and I am taking yours and screw everyone else.' trump and his crime family are a prime example

I think this is a great article. Love the pictures. I don't think people understand that you are talking about the immigrants in the picture not today's immigrants. Fortunately the attitude displayed by a lot of commentators is not held by the majority of Americans.
