I can relate. As an Econ grad I can't afford to get one foot through the door in the places I want to work because they offer free internships or pathetically low wages. Same, but it's sooo much worse for us. Pakistan is the heart of China's belt and road project and we're 100% dependent on it. China also gives us loans without which we'd probably have defaulted by now. They also provide us with political backing against India which helps us on numerous fronts. We can't talk about the Uyghur issue at all. We'd rather be nuked than have china kill our economy, because its basically the same thing.

This just happened to me and today's my second week coming into office. 60% of the workforce resigned because of the switch. I stayed but only after asking for a raise which I thankfully got. I insisted that it wasn't just fuel expense I should be paid for but the extra hours I put commuting. I advise you try to make it to office with a raise that at least covers transport and then look for a new WFH position elsewhere. It's not easy but it's better than being unemployed.

Hmmm. Visiting this country is actually great if you do it right, living here is indeed awful. I live in the capital and am relatively privileged so it's not that bad for me. But everyone who can afford to do so is leaving because the economy is now unbearably bad. People in general aren't open minded, opportunities are low, crime in some cities is high. Idk, come here if you know someone, just avoid Karachi and you'll be fine.
