You are exactly correct. The main thing currently threatening insect populations is unsustainable farming practices and pesticide use. I am trying to raise awareness through my artwork about declining insect populations. They are so important in the food chain that we all need to understand the threat that losing them poses to all life.

Cicadas emerge, shed one final time to become and adult, mate then die en mass numbers. She is not having any insects killed to make these, she is using insects that have already lived their life cycles.
