If I recall correctly, the penalty was a fine only if the baby was born prematurely but both mother and child lived. If the mother OR baby died (i.e, a miscarriage), the man who did it would be executed.

I have a recent opposite story of an awesome medical professional. I had perimenopausal symptoms. The RN who saw me agreed that it was very likely just perimenopause but wanted to make absolutely sure and ordered an ultrasound. Long story short: they found endometrial cancer that had spread to an ovary but nowhere else so I'll soon be in remission. I'm thoroughly convinced if I'd had another nurse or doctor they'd have said "oh yeah, that's perimenopause" and sent me home

Actually, the truth is even crazier. All that was a lie spread by the accused on social media and the news to turn public opinion in his favor. Not only had he never paid his child support or had the suspension removed, he'd NEVER had a license in his life! (the suspension was a "if you do get a license, it'll be immediately suspended" thing) AND, in yet another crazy twist, when they went back to court, the judge was like "so you claim you couldn't get this suspension removed on Dec. 28 because you were injured so you couldn't go to the secretary of state. However, we know that's not true because on Dec. 28 you WERE AT THE SECRETARY OF STATE getting your ID card."

Speaking from personal experience here, don't feel bad if you decide to have her in hospice care instead of at your home. People can be judgy, but death (especially with cancer) is... not what it looks like in the movies, where everyone gathers around the bedside and says goodbye. It is often slow and horrific and traumatic. Several people in my family are still dealing with PTSD, extreme anxiety, and related issues due to caring for 2 of our family members during slow home deaths, and it's been 4 and 7 years now.

Man, I wish our UPS delivery person was like these lovely humans. Ours literally killed our dog a couple weeks ago. She managed to break out of her fence and (going by the cameras) less than 2 minutes later he came flying around the blind corner in our subdivision and hit her so hard she died instantly. I was riding my bike and turned the corner less than a minute after it happened. He never apologized, never offered a word of explanation, just stood there looking thoroughly ticked off that I had caught him and now he had to report it to his supervisors. (UPS kept offering to pay for the dog to "make it better". I'm guessing even though they wouldn't get in any legal trouble since our dog had broken loose, it wouldn't look good on the news if their driver got busted for going 40 mph in a residential area and killing an emotional support dog - which could have just as easily been one of the many MANY small children in our neighborhood)

We all have such a good subconscious understanding of what's "normal" or "safe" that if you fell "something ain't right" you're probably right. Two guys were walking behind me out of a grocery store. They weren't doing or saying anything - just walking briskly - but there was an energy or vibe in the air that something was about to go down between them and I wanted no part of it. I hustled back to my car as quickly as possible and sure enough, as I put the car into gear they started beating the heck out of each other. (apparently something had already happened between them in the store as security guards came rushing out and I saw flashing lights coming in before I'd left the parking lot)

The real problem will be if they get the kinks worked out somehow. The AI overview steals the traffic from all the websites that worked hard to collate data and create informative pages and keeps that traffic for Google. Without traffic, sites (and their related jobs) die.

Big bang theory. Completely unwatchable, on every level. It’s designed to use some “big words” to make us feel in on the smart jokes. But the jokes themselves are not funny and Sheldon is the worst. Ug, I hate that show.

OCD often comes with intrusive thoughts. For some people, these thoughts attack what the person loves the most. For example, someone loves their child more than life itself. But, while they're sitting their happily doing arts and crafts with them, they see a vivid mental picture of them picking up the scissors and stabbing their child in the face. It also can bring a lot of guilt and shame as they start thinking "I must be a terrible person to think such things" when it couldn't be farther from the truth as the intrusive thoughts are completely the *opposite* of their true feelings. It's a cruel, cruel disease. (Source: members of my family have OCD).
