When I had to put my dogs down I asked if I could take some of their fur, it lives in a locket now. Perhaps you could do something similar?

I am so sorry! I know it is a very hard decision, but you are probably doing the most humane thing you can do. Dogs can't tell us they feel like s**t, we have to rely on there eyes, if they have an appetite, and quality of life. Just know that one day your days will turn smiles remembering all the great adventures that you both went on. When I had to put my German Shepherd down the vet put her paw in like a plaster of paris thing, so I have her paw print with me always. Good luck man,,,, I fell for ya.

Shawn just talk to your pet. I have had over 250 dogs in my long life and everyone was so special. Never a bad one. And when it came time to help them to the Bridge I held them looked them in the eye and thanked them all for their love and friendship and asked them to forgive me for anything I ever said or did to them and as their eyes closed it was me they saw and then when it was over I would be with them for hours Dogs live only a short while, maybe a few hours from birth to we were lucky 25 yrs for a few of our old chis and terriers. They live to teach us dumb a*s humans what pure love is all about. And when they have shown us that LOVE is everlasting then HE calls them to come home. Even when our pets have left us they are just a blink of an eye and we can remember them. I know what you are feeling I have lost 15 of my dogs since 2016 and have my last 10 with me, 2 will be 21 in June. It is never easy but we have conversations all of the time. PAX+
