There’s nothing like a good comic to get you out of a funk. Sometimes for the artist too - as much as it is for the reader.

“This whole thing started because I decided to make a weird comic a day for two months straight. I was severely depressed for two years and failed two colleges but thanks to therapy, meds, and a lot of work on myself I'm doing much better. Making these comics to me is like being able to say to my depression, ‘even with you in the way I am still able to make something,'" Martin Rosner, the creator of Hot Paper, told us in a previous interview.

Now, with 120K Instagram followers, the talented artist is able to brighten the days of many who love his witty comics. Scroll down to see his newest work, and don’t forget to check out our previous posts about him: 1, 2, 3, 4.

What at first glance, may seem like just a lighthearted comic, will most likely have you surprised by the end. Martin’s humor hits that “cringeworthy but in the best way possible” humor just right and all of the comics have pretty unexpected plot twists. What do you think? Don’t hesitate to discuss which comic you relate to the most in the comments!

“I try to be open about depression, I know it always helps to know that you're not the only one struggling,” Martin told Bored Panda about the way his experience might help the fans of his comics. “Getting it out of my system is a great help. People reacting positively to me sharing my feelings and these funny drawings is even better. I feel like I make a tiny connection with others. Just a tiny one but it is there.”

When talking about the creative process, Martin usually writes out ten ideas and then chooses the one he likes the best, “I learned that failure is the most important part of making better art.” The young cartoonist said at the moment he is looking for a job to pay the bills but isn’t letting go of his true passions, “I hope to one day make a living from cartoon drawings and doing stand-up.”

“I don't have an end goal in mind but several smaller ones. I try not to focus too much on the number and statistics because I know that's the best way to make yourself miserable,” the artist has told us before when asked about future goals. Martin is experimenting with stand-up, another thing he's been into to overcome the anxiety of being the focus of people’s attention. “I would love to improve to a level where I can sell tickets for a show,” he said.

When I was younger I had a limited amount of games so I spent all my time playing sims. Now I have a ton of games and the money to buy more and I still spend all my time playing sims.
