After I Volunteered In Ukraine, I Made These 22 Comics Depicting What’s Going On There
I want to share with you small stories that I had complied into comics during the time I volunteered in Ukraine and some other stories from Ukrainians themselves who live and are in the warzone spots like Bucha.
If you'd like to see more of my work, please check out my other posts on Bored Panda by clicking here, here, here, here, here, here, and here.

Not only children suffer from this war but animals too. In Ukraine, lots of families have pets and after the full-scale war began, some of them took their friends with them, but some of them were left behind...
Recently, with the help of friends, we bought over 150 diapers and special canned food for injured dogs from the Borodyanka shelter. This shelter was bombed by Russians and the region was occupied for almost a month, so the owners weren’t able to properly feed these animals. The shelter had 400+ dogs but only 150 survived… We also came down to help another shelter too, we bought 1500 kilos of dog food and helped with the delivery of humanitarian aid.
Many people and businesses reorganized and learned how to help military forces in Ukraine. Still, despite all of that, they believe that they should try to do more. But what about our governments?
Souls of murdered children…
My motivation for creating is the smiles of people who read the work on my page. We can discuss lots of contradictory topics and share various opinions. Thanks to this, I’ve changed as a person, and dare I say some of my followers have too. I hope that those who read Bloome Comics will know more about the RU-UA war as I’m currently using my page to spread awareness. After the war is over, I will come back with funny girly comics to make people happier.
Russian propaganda has no limits due to their claims that Ukrainians are horrible Nazis and have dangerous bio labs with ill pigeons. People who try to protect their homes and land are called fascists… This is false information… and hilarious propaganda from their side.
oh hey , malatovs (think that is what they are called) be in the background
My comics started out because I always wanted to create some relatable things for girls and show funny lifestyle stories. My major influencer for that is my mom, she’s always telling me some funny stories and they then tend to become part of my comics. When it comes to my personal style, well, it is something that is hard to explain, it just forms when you draw a lot.
My comic ideas depend on the plot and what I want to explain using it. Usually, it takes anywhere from 2 hours or more to finish one piece of work. If comics need to be more colorful or it is a collab with another artist, it can take 4-5 hours overall.
This shelf and rooster has become a symbol of the Ukrainians and their unbreakable spirit. After the RU missile struck down one house in the Kyiv region, this shelf and ceramic rooster were practically left untouched.
In history, there has been lots of arguing between Ukraine and Poland but a true friend is always there for you if you are in trouble.
With that being said, when it comes to creating comics for me personally, the most enjoyable part is coloring. It calms me down and I can open my mind to more creative things and think about life in general.
Just like a lot of other artists, I do feel burnt out at times. Once it was at the end of summer 2021. I didn’t know why and what for I was creating art, but my followers pulled me out of these thoughts. (Thank you guys!)The second time it happened was right after the Russian invasion, I was so depressed by the news because of my family roots and it was also the fact that some of my relatives also live in Ukraine. I was afraid for their life and was angry reading the news for a long time, it put me off art for about several weeks before I realized that I can also help with my art and tell people about this ongoing war. I started a new series just for that.
"This is a 'special military operation,' we are saving the Russian speaking population!" This is what Russia tells the media but at the end of the day, no one can be protected, especially not those countries who have a lot of Russian-speaking immigrants… Who knows, even all of that aside, maybe they will find another occasion to ruin your life.
Why would you portray the Russian woman like that? The Russians are good people, it's all Putin.
Many Russians are good people and some are downright heroic, risking their freedom to protest this war. But sadly a part of this nation is completely brainwashed and actually supports putin.
Load More Replies...This just shows the priority of things in Ukraine and Russia… Russians thought that Ukrainians are poor because of propaganda but since 2012, a lot has changed… Regions like Irpin, Bucha, and Gostomel were some of the richest with newly built houses and nice neighborhoods. So some Russian troops were jealous of that and even went as far as to steal women's underwear from the washing machines.
Recently I’ve been receiving a lot of positive feedback, lots of Ukrainians express gratitude and thank me for showing support for them. I believe that if more people know the truth, more people will be inclined to help.
I’d like to let you know that Instagram is the only platform where I share my art as well as Bored Panda, where I post from time to time. You can also find reposts of my work on 9gag and Reddit, I suppose.
Officials are saying that around 216 children have now passed away in the RU - UA War since 24.02.2022, but there is no information about the children that have been killed in Mariupol. Also, more than 120,000 children have been deported from Ukraine to Russia and a huge % of those children were not orphans as they have families.
When Ukraine wins, you should visit this beautiful country, especially Lake Lemuria (Rose Lake), Carpathians, and Synevir Lake. Try their national bread called "palyanytsya" and borscht. See their customs on Kupala Night. You will definitely fall in love!
Since 24.02.2022, there is no safe place in Ukraine. Missiles can strike anywhere. So air alarms can catch you in some unexpected situations...
Prayers for the people in Ukraine <3 no one should have to go through this kind of stress.
All protests in Russia are supported by fear and while in Ukraine, unarmed people fight for their freedom with the Russian armed forces, they already have lost their fear of death. Russians keep their mouths shut because they are afraid to go to prison.
Wait a minute! I saw a video once of a crowd of ukranian protesters walking toward 3 russian soldiers, scaring them off without violence. The russian troops kept backing off and firing in the air, but they did nothing to scare them. I think that's what the second drawing is inspired by.
A lot of celebrities, famous brands, and huge companies have refused to support Russia and this is a huge sign to all that Russia is doing the wrong thing and their violence is irrelevant in the 21st century.
What’s going on in the city of Mariupol is horrifying to every Ukrainian… more than 100,000 people are still in the ruined city and they have no access to simple things like water, food, and medicine. Moreover, the Russian Government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory decided to illegally export grain from the occupied Kherson region, forcibly taking it from farmers. The corresponding decision was published by the press service of the Krasnoyarsk Territory - subsequently, the publication disappeared from the site, but was preserved in the Wayback Machine archive.
My New Year's toast was "Let's not be a part of history, Please be no war!". It did not help..
Despite all the horrible things that have happened so far, lots of men and women are very brave and their bravery has no limits!
wait a minute ... Is this artist in the war rn? If she is I hope she makes it out okay
To win in this war, Ukraine needs the help of all people. It is not only a matter of their independence it is a matter of surviving and preserving democracy and humanity. If UA loses, it will be a signal to other dictators to do all they want: kill civilians, invade other countries and do whatever they want without any consequences!
There was the story when one granny struck down a Russian drone using a tomato can. I don't think that this was some sort of coincidence but rather a fact. And while even a UA granny behaves like a warrior, the Russian police continue to arrest people with white sheets of paper, bicycles, and even innocent children.
@Thomasin Grace Shut the FU̅CK up and go to school This lib cr a p you are talking about is what millions of people have died for Yes we have found another ruski
Picture 11, so for you a genocide of the Polish population from Ukrainian side is an argument? WTF :| This genocide was made by Oun-Upa ukrainian nazis who murdered people in a brutal way read a little about it. I have nothing against the Ukrainians, but no one has ever apologized for that, and 2022 is the year of Stepan Bandera FTW! And to be clear, I do not support Russia in any way, I am just talking about inconvenient facts, my family had to flee Lviv several decades ago, from these m***********s.
it makes me feel terrible, i’m ukrainian but i was raised in russia. i have no ukrainian passport but i have a russian one and now everyone assumes that i support russia even though i dont. it’s gotten to the point where people throw objects at me. i do have a british passport (from my dads side) but it just gets ignored. i truly feel terrible for all my friends in ukraine. i want to help but everyone thinks im a spy or something.
I am Ukrainian that currently live in Ireland. I'm 20 and I'm here alone. When war started, I lost everything, because my family was poor. Sometimes it's so hard to explain people the real situation of the war and I can't express how grateful I am right now, after reading this. Thank you very much, now I have a link to this post that I can share with people, who ask what's going on.
#15... Its much easier to bravely protest, then soldiers don't fight back, don't you think ? In the begining of war, then these protests take place, Russian forces had orders not shoot civilians. You can find videos about this all over internet - they stay still, no matter what Ukrainian people do. Most "violent" actions was shooting in the air and some smoke grenades. Its not excuse for invasion itself (and yes, this is not "special operation", its invasion and crime), but to compare it with fear in Russia...Yes, we fear, cause you can be grabbed even for children drawing with antiwar theme.
My husband is presently on the Western side of Ukraine. He's sending buses to pick-up civilians that are in the war zones, from there to safety, then sends trucks with food and other stuff like personal kits. This Sunday (May 22/2022) he will be training the drivers about First Aid (especially tourniquet and such) and how to detect bombs along the way. He will be there for 6 weeks or more. I'm still in Canada and rejoice when I can see him on a Zoom or WhatsApp video call.
