Ryan's journey as a webcomic creator started on Tumblr, but he doesn't post anything there anymore. His artwork can be found on Instagram where he has more than 1,500 followers.
The artist told Bored Panda that he enjoys comics but he's also a huge fan of animation: "they share similar elements but it's always just so cool to give a drawing life." However, comics are a lot more convenient and animation takes a while to make, according to Ryan.
"Who's this 'Care' guy and why do we always have to find him to handle these packages with us?"
Ryan revealed that he gets ideas for his comics randomly throughout everyday life. Sometimes they come from real things that happen to him, sometimes his comics depict exaggerated real-life situations. Some illustrations originate from silly thoughts that make him laugh. "I’m always adding to the 'comic ideas' note in my notes app."
Upon being asked which part of the creative process Ryan enjoys the most, he told us that he really enjoys the sketching/developing part. "Everything is so loose, expressive and changeable in those first stages."
"As a webcomic artist, my main motivation is to spread laughs, any laugh I can sneak out of someone I consider a win. With the internet, my silly doodles can reach many more people than a classmate desk neighbor and it always blows my mind a bit."
Ryan "learned” the webcomic art from "a kind of 'How to Draw Comics' book at the library way back around age 8 or 9," but he has always loved drawing! "I used to draw superhero comics in elementary school and have more or less kept doing so ever since."
When we asked Ryan to tell us something more about himself, he revealed that he really likes rap music. "I have it on at least 75% of my day. I’m not one who favors the more introspective over the somewhat ridiculous rap songs either, I appreciate all parts of the hip-hop spectrum."
Should have stayed at home and flunked out on a dating site-warmer wiser.
