Bored Panda reached out to the artist to learn more about him and this comic series. We were curious to know how he came up with "Fruit Bomb Comics". Simon shared that he drew a lot of stuff but he was rarely completely satisfied with the path he took with his comics. "At some point, I was reading through all of my old stuff and realized that my VERY FIRST comic was an apple comic that I actually liked a lot and I always had this particular 'fruity' idea in my mind. Well, one thing led to another: I opened a completely new channel, started with zero followers, changed the art style, simplified everything, and decided that fruits would be my new main characters from now on - especially a loveable but naive, clumsy red apple who just wants to 'hang around'."

"These little 4-panel comics actually absurdly reflect many situations from my life. Now I always have to smile when I reread my new comics and I hope to make other people smile or laugh too and bring a little joy into their everyday lives."

The artist revealed that his journey into creating comics was greatly influenced by the work of "Safely Endangered." "I’ve been following his stuff for years and at some point I thought to myself 'Hey, you’re not that bad at drawing, maybe you’ll try it yourself.' Well, here I am drawing comics every single day."

We asked the artist to describe his creative process. Simon shared that sometimes ideas just pop into his head. "Sometimes nothing comes to me for days - but I write down every little idea, even if I wake up in the middle of the night - with a pen and piece of paper at the ready. I then write them down, get them into shape (suitable for 3-4 pictures), and start drawing, without a sketch because I’ve noticed that simpler drawings that don’t look 'perfect' are even funnier. When I catch myself grinning while I’m drawing, I know that I’m on the right track."

"I just try to tell absurd but somehow heartwarming funny little stories. When I notice that other people find my comics funny it makes me incredibly happy. Sometimes I even get personal messages where someone tells me that one of my last comics brightened their day - things like that make my day."

One piece is amazing. (Don't tell me to watch the live action, I tried and didn't like it.)
