Pastor Faces Major Backlash For Mansplaining Women On What Not To Wear In Photos, Here Are 30 Of Most Savage Replies
Brian Sauvé, a Christian pastor at Refuge Church in Ogden, Utah, sparked outrage online after claiming women shouldn't wear certain types of clothing on social media.
In a now infamous Tweet, Brain penned an open letter addressed to “Ladies” where he claimed that “there is no reason whatsoever for you to post pictures of yourself in low cut shirts, bikinis, bra and underwear, or anything similar—ever.” The outspoken father of five continued to argue that not even a weight loss journey, showing a newborn or documenting your birth are reasons enough for this.
As you can suspect, this didn’t sit well with people online. They responded to Brian in a similar manner: “Dear Brian,” and pointed out how wrong on so many levels his message was. #DearBrian is now trending, and below we collected some of the best responses from people allergic to misogynistic BS.

If you’ve been on Twitter lately, the chances are you noticed quite a few tweets in your feed that said “Dear Brian.” It was tweeted by influencers, celebrities, and even a few companies after Brian Sauvé posted an infamous tweet telling women what was decent and what wasn’t to wear when posting pics of themselves to social media. Immediately, his tweet shared on February 7 caused a huge outrage.
If you’re wondering, Brian is a 31-year-old Utah pastor and Christian musician. Brian is the Pastor of Preaching and Liturgy at Refuge Church, which appears to be an independent Calvinist evangelical Christian organization. In addition to his pastoral duties, the father of five is also a Christian musician and has over 5,000 monthly listeners on Spotify tuning in to hear him perform hymns and psalms, We Got This Covered reports.
Brian introduces himself on his website as the “the lieutenant of wordsmithing and chieftain of scribery (trust me, it's a word) in this digital kingdom.” He adds: “As such, feel free to direct any disagreement, vitriol, extravagant praise, or general ire in my direction.” It seems like he got enough of that these past two days.
The next day, after posting his original tweet, Brian shared the following post: “Quite a few men and women who would likely identify as liberal feminists have recently taken quite the interest in my Twitter account. Welcome! I'm glad you're here.” He then penned a series of follow-up tweets, where despite the outrage, he defended and stood by his initial comment.
“Many of you likely use and promote the #MeToo movement — yet hundreds of you are sending me unsolicited sexual images and videos. Is that ok now? I thought your sexual ethic was all about consent? This seems like naked (pun intended) hypocrisy on your part,” he continued.
most of the girls who dress wearing crop tops and shorts shorts and skirts and whatnot, is because THEY LIKE THEY WAY IT LOOKS. I wear makeup because I LIKE TO FEEL PRETTY. we are not dressing for you, and never will. leave us alone.
Brian added, “If a man were to send you unsolicited nude pictures or sexually explicit videos of himself, you would (rightly!) judge him as a sexually abusive pervert. But you can do it to me? How does the ethical math work out on that? Maybe your sexual ethics aren’t so ethical after all.”
The pastor proceeded telling his critics “I don't hate you. Sincerely, I don't.” He added that he hopes “you can find freedom from the crippling weight of your sin through Christ.” Moreover, he called everyone “hypocrites, sinners and moral vagabonds.”
What an actual dirt bag, how do people like this manage to tie their shoes in the am nvm trying to “lead” a family and church? wow, always stunned by humans and their audacity
Even adidas has more common sense than this “Christian pastor.”
God's intention, in the Bible, was that people would be naked and unashamed. Then, Brian Sauve and his ilk came along.
Exactly. As I continue my path to ministry, I need to remember that people who call themselves Christians have done a lot of harm. It is on me to present Christianity as a religion of love and equality.
Bravo, Luther! I hope and pray that you succeed :).

“You should seek out an atheist for help” – what an epic reply! :-) I respect people for having their faith, but if some of them just would stop deep-throating others with it and mind their own *#%&! business instead, the world would be a much more pleasant place.
"If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away; it is better for you to lose one of your members than for your whole body to be thrown into hell." Matthew 5:29 NRSV
Amen! We don't get to pick and choose which verses to follow and the verses to ignore.
Once more religious people trying to attack and opress women. What a surprise...
It’d be nice if his post was more honest. “dear ladies, when you show off your body I can’t help but think immoral and sexual thoughts. Please cover up as I can’t control myself because my mom only told me I was a good boy growing up. Sincerely, men who just can’t help themselves”
Dear Brian: You moronic twat. I imagine you find the depictions of Mary showing off her newborn Jesus shameful, the big ol s**t huh? 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Don't know why BP is giving an idiot like this more exposure. Ignore the fools and weed them out by keeping them in the dark places where they usually live.
Brian getting caught with a bag of cocaine and male prostitute in 3…2….1….
According to Christianity’s own mythology Adam and Eve were cast out of the garden of eden for eating fruit from a tree and not for being nude. So according to that being nude is not a sin.
Well no, they were cast out for eating from the tree of knowledge. Totally different concept.
Load More Replies...Dear Brian - I bet you are the type boy who thinks survivors or rape and sexual assault are responsible for their abuse because (A) of what they wore; (B) of who they dated; Of where they went and when; because they talked to a strange man...well, because they exist. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR THOUGHTS! If seeing a woman in a short dress makes you lust for her, then that is YOUR problem, not ours. Try getting back to what Jesus actually taught and toss away all your hate, misogyny and judgment toward others.
Dear Brian...tell us you have no self-control without telling us you have no self-control.
I looked him up, and was stunned to see that he's actually married & has 5 kids. He married his high school sweetheart & I'm pretty sure they have sex with the lights out & the sheet pulled over their heads.
Load More Replies...I may post photos or milestones but it's for 3 : ME, MYSELF, & I. You di you, and I'll do me Mr. Sauve'. I need no permission or validation. It's Christians such as yourself that give us other Christians a bad name.
My church actually showed the original rocky horror picture show. I showed up as the maid in a very revealing outfit. Was never judged by anyone not even my pastor. We had fun. The only comment I got was from a gay friend who told me jokingly that he could never look at me the same way again after seeing my costume. My body my choice. You should never judge others Brian. There is only one judge and we meet him when we die. So stop telling people what to wear or not wear because you are lusting after women and don't want to be caught. This guy should not be a pastor.
Seriously, we need truck loads of women to show up at his house and throw up on his shoes. And maybe truck loads of these women's fathers, brothers, boyfriends, to punch him in the nose.
Dear pastor, there's no reason for religions to keep on going, spreading falsehoods either. Yet that is exactly what you and your colleagues/competitors have been doing for centuries on end, causing multiple wars, assassinations, mutilations, and more ugly stuff. Maybe it's time to quit?
There will always be creeps who jerks off to random pics on women off the internet. But it's never the woman's responsibility to not post those pics to prevent that and men should know that even if they used the pictures or drooled over them doesn't mean they were posted FOR YOU. Sigh how many men who think everything is about them.
It’s got absolutely nothing to do with being too revealing. I know for a fact that women have been assaulted despite being completely covered (including middle-eastern women who barely show their eyes). I was assaulted at the age of 15 by some boys who were leering at me ... I was wearing thick baggy jeans & huge hoodies that didn’t even reveal any curves, so no one can say that I was tempting them to do it (& I was minding my own business, trying to ignore them, then when I tried to get out of there, they blocked my way & there was no one I could call out to for help ... so they took advantage of me). Whether a girl is showing her shoulders or not, she can still be a target for predatory males (OR females, depending on the situation)! Educate yourself & quit being ignorant, FFS. 🤨🤦♀️
Seriously? And you wonder why people leave or simply have nothing to do with the (any) church. Its because of people like you that people like me have a relationship with God (or whomever) outside of ANY organized religion. No one wants to be judged by the likes of you, who obviously doesn't have a clue.
In response, he doubled and tripled and quadruple downed, blaming liberals and snowflakes made degenerate by the sins of the world, etc. Which, obviously - not like an Evangelical pastor from Utah who's already at a point where he's posting that s**t is going to be like "Oh damn, I am a stunted misogynist manbaby - I better fix that!"
And signing it from 'your brothers', don't be including me in that Brian, we're both dudes but the similarity stops there, you utter cretin.
I don't think that immodest images are in every case wrong, speaking of both men and women. Nor do I think it is right for anyone, male or female, to shame another because of their body. However, God has counseled us to dress modestly and refrain from vanity for a reason. It is wrong to post immodest images of oneself even in the event you know that nobody would ever see them if it is done for immoral reasons. Men have a responsibility to control themselves, as do women, but men's actions are not at the root of the issue.
I agree. It's concerning that he can't distinguish between women posting pictures of themselves with their babies, etc, and pictures that are intended to be really arousing. I mean, yes, those occasions he listed--newborn, weight loss journey--are actually really good exceptions to the "rule"! And I think it would be fine for him to gently advise his own congregation or family to dress modestly if he did it right, but he doesn't have any authority over us. This tweet does no good. He needs to rethink this and find another way to help people who truly need it.

You're the person that should wait 48 hrs before you post something stop trying to make people stupider w your messiness.
