There’s a specific episode of Doctor Who, ‘Father’s Day’, where Rose goes back in time and saves her dad from getting killed in a car accident.

Her dad gets to meet her but because the timeline change caused complete chaos and destruction, he figures out he was supposed to get hit by the very car she saved him from. He then steps onto the road and … fixes the timeline.

I never bawled so hard. It was such a well-written episode. It was tragic and upsetting. At the same time it was haunting watching Rose’s dad accept his fate. I still cry hard every time I watch his death scene.

Jiraiya from Naruto.

The kid deserved a f*cking break. Grew up with no parents and in a village that resented him. He worked his tail off and made people respect him and realize he's not a monster through hard work and determination alone.

Midway through Part I, Jiraiya enters his life, becomes a strong father figure (though he does have his flaws), and then he's killed in Part II. Watching Naruto break down in the popsicle scene after Jiraiya passed had me bawling my eyes out.

I lived a childhood a lot like Naruto's. Didn't really relate well to my parents (they were abusive) and spent a lot of time alone as a result. I was also poor as hell and told I'd never amount to anything. I worked so hard growing up to be where I am now, and to see a character I identified with so much get something stolen from him that he truly deserved sucked.

I'mma go cry now.

Just something about a man so shaped by his own misery becoming a figure of cruelty and greed, relentless in pursuing the misery of others. He believes all people are this way in reality, and cannot see through the darkness use his intelligence and skills for good.

Then he just dies, unredeemed on a coastal shelf, and no one has anything to say.

That’s also what I liked about the books as a kid. There was an underlying message of : sometimes terrible things happen and there’s not much you can do about it, but try to get out the other side kicking.

I couldn't believe nobody mentioned Bambi's mother. My Dad took me to see it when it first came out, yes I'm that old, and I cried my eyes out. My poor dad didn't know what to do with me. Of course in those distant days you didn't have spoilers to warn you, just a cute cartoon animal film, where the hero's mother is shot by frigging hunters. I'm from the UK where we don't have guns in every pocket and purse so coming to Canada as a young wife and mother and becoming exposed to the hunting culture was a shock. For food? Okay. Hunting just to kill? I despise you with every cell in my body. Rot in Hades you pathetic excuse for a human being. Not the only death that got me crying in a movie, the next one was Old Yeller, but it was the first and I was just little and it still bothers me in my 70s.

I thought the same exact thing!! I stopped watching after that episode! I'm traumatized, it was absolutely heartbreaking and too gory! All the deaths in TWD were sad, even Shane. It was sad when Lori died.. and Beth and Hershel and Andrea's sister. Lol.. Remember when Carol's daughter walked out of the barn? Uguu. Maybe there were just too many characters to list, so they didn't even bother to mention it. Lol. Carol's husband was probably the only one I felt indifferent about.. >.<

Okay- don't judge me- but Frozen 2. The part where Elsa and Olaf "die". And seeing Anna's reaction- as someone who's lost family (my mom, not my sister, but still), just broke me. And the song she sings- the way her voice breaks, the lyric "I've seen dark before, but not like this/This is cold, this is empty, this is numb/The life I knew is over, the lights are out/Hello, darkness, I'm ready to succumb" just captures exactly how you feel after a loss so big...

I have 2. Cyril from Oz, set for execution but had brain damage making him child like. Time comes and his brother tells him he's having one more Ect session so he's not scared, put in electric chair, then stay of 30 days came at last minute. They put us through such an emotional rollercoaster and then is executed 30 days later, this time fully knowing what was happening and cried out for his mom and his brother asking what's happening. Second one is when Data, the Android from Star Trek The Next Generation sacrifices himself for the Captain in the movie Nemisis. Still hurts me hard to this day.

In Peaky Blinders, John Shelby's death was so sudden and unexpected that I could not believe it till I rewatched it 5 times. Thank goodness I didn't get spoilers. I have 3... The little girl in the "red coat" from Schindler's List. I watched this movie in 6 or 7th grade class. I got so worked up crying that I cussed out the teacher for even making us watch the movie then punched a classmate in his face for trying to make fun of me for crying. I hit him and yelled "everyone should be f*****g crying!"...Needles to say it got me sent to my vojns et lors office and a call home. What can I say that s**t just hit me. Oh yeah and the ending of Million Dollar Baby. Was in my early 20's with my daughters mother and friends and got super choked up. I hurled a bunch of expletives then left the room never to watch that movie again along with Passion of the Christ. The torture scene (basically the whole movie) leading up to "Jesus's" death. Mel Gibson f****d me up with that one.

The sequence when Data finally "dies" in Star Trek: Picard in season 1 finale. My Favorite Character Of All Time. The way they had him suddenly "age" viciously and then dissolve away. A piece of my heart died that day. I thought his sacrifice in Nemesis was heart-wrenching, but this? Too much.

Even though I knew it was coming, Enzo, from The Art of Racing in the Rain. Seeing him enjoy his ride in the race car knowing why. There were men in the theater who were crying. After my loss of Lucy Loo I had all I could do to keep from snot crying right there and then. I recorded it when it was on a movie channel but I haven't been able to watch it. I can't even bear to watch the first 5 minutes. I'll just cry through the whole thing.

In the book Isolation by MR Forbes, the Sheriff's wife. And child. And adopted child. And friends. In the span of a few pages. Early in the book. Apparently just to "motivate" the character. Tear him down and build him up. This was book #17 in the series, and it annoyed my so greatly that I speed read the book, and have never read the series finale. Nor anything by him since. And he had been one of my favorite authors. And I've removed him from my follow list on Amazon. This is probably a little different than Redit meant, but, it hit hard, when these are integral characters, some going back to book 1.
