If she meant 'woman' she would've said 'woman'. But she didn't; she said 'trans men' because thats what she meant. Wtf is wrong with you close minded people? Even if you dont understand why someone would believe they were a different sex than what their physical parts are, it's none of your business any more than your private business being some strangers business. Its got nothing to do with you or me. It has to do with them and who they believe themselves to be. They just want to be ablento use the bathroom or changing room without being accosted by people like you! FFS, leave other people alone! Its none if your business!

It becomes public business when people with dysphoria are trying to change laws to eliminate sex-based protections. As long as sexism exists, we will need female-specific spaces. And how can we have them if we're not allowed to define what a woman is in any meaningful way? Sexism impacts transmen just as much as it does women (just like it still impacts lesbian women, even if they're butch), but transwomen do not face this sexism. So we cannot have different laws for them.

They face daily abuse and scorn. My trans friend gets followed around with idiots trying to look up her skirt. If you don't think she needs protection from that your values system is very messed up. Everybody should be treated with respect. I don't care who they were born as or who they love. People are either good or bad with a large middle ground. The world isn't black and white, it's a full spectrum of magnificence!

Of course they need protection from that, and of course everyone should be treated respectfully. But it's not the -same- protection as women need, and "respect" doesn't mean we have to ignore when we see something potentially harmful (like saying that we're not allowed to separate spaces by sex anymore). I hope things get better for your friend.

Aelin Wildfire, I dont know of anyone that wants *different* laws for trans people. I do know trans ppl who want the same laws &protections afforded to everybody else. Sadly it's not possible without laws; it's reminiscent of what I learned about civil rights laws passed in the 60s so people couldn't discriminate against people of color anymore. Now its trans people who are being treated as less-thans. So they too, need laws protecting their basic rights. Imagine, if ppl didnt discriminate against trans ppl then a civil rights protection law wouldn't be needed. Defining what a woman is isnt difficult, & like many words, it has more than 1 definition. There's woman as in one who has female reproductive organs and then there's woman as in how one recognizes themselves inwardly (whether u call it a soul or personality or true being.) A woman whose had cancer& had to have a complete hysterectomy &double mastectomy is still a woman, even though she doesn't have the physiological parts.

Of course she is: no one is suggesting otherwise. The problem is, if you define womanhood as a feeling or you use that as the -legal- definition, you make it nearly impossible to define sex-based discrimination as well. If, hypothetically, a transman is fired, how do you tell if it's because of sexism if management can come back with "but he's a man! How can I discriminate against a man?" I'm sure you'd be quick to say "it's transphobia!" and you may be right, but it's more likely to be about misogyny (especially since a specifically female body is seen by misogynists as weaker and prone to missing time for things like periods). If we don't keep those protections, every female person could suffer. Make laws against trans-specific discrimination, and that will accomplish your aim without catching women in the crossfire.

Well, you say that, and then people start trying to shame you for not engaging in collective delusion. I can guarantee you that if you went into a women's room alone, and there's a big dude with a deep voice and stubble already in there, you're gonna do some very quick mental math as to how badly you need to use that particular restroom.

I bet most women have shared a public bathroom with a trans person &didnt even know. Cuz it doesn't matter& is none of my business. they are there for the same reason as me: I gotta pee! Way before trans people were coming out on a regular basis, (more than 8yrs ago) I went into a public bathroom &was attacked by a guy. Dressed as a guy. Well, dressed as a douchebag with too much cologne, but he was a cis-male, not a trans person, & he was in there to find a woman to s**ually assault. I'm worried ofbeing s**ually assaulted in a public loo again, but not worried about being attacked by a trans person. Cis-white males worry me the most b/c so many of them have arrogant, unrealistic expectations of females. They get away with so much, even from day to day, that they arent even aware that they have a privilege. They get away with so much so often that they think they wont get in trouble for anything. With no consequences, some think they have carte-blanche to do anything!

Well considering trans people is not a new development you are just about guaranteed to be correct there. When my state (shame on you NC) tried to pull the bs they did over the bathroom wars, I kept asking people with tiny minds where did they want trans people to go to the bathroom. “Not with our daughters” they said. I replied so with your sons is ok then? That usually shut them up for a few minutes. I no longer live in the same state as my trans friends but I do have multiple family members lgbtq. I am a work in progress so know I still make mistakes but I will never understand why a pronoun is so damaging to the egos of tiny minds. And just like with BLM, until BLM no one can truthfully say all lives matter. Change the people groups to lgbtq and until lgbtq lives matter, it cannot truthfully be said all lives matter.

If there was a big dude in the women's bathroom that would be a problem because dudes, aka: guys, dont belong in the women's bathroom. If a big, tall lady with a deep voice was in there, even if I assumed it was near the end of the day so she may have a bit of a 5 o'clock shadow, I would seriously not care. Its not that hard to tell the difference between a trans woman (who has recently come out) and a dude dressed up as a lady. It doesnt take a genius or a body language expert to tell the difference. I would probably give them a standard, polite smile& a "hi" on the way into a stall. As far as people trying to shame you to be part of a collective delusion, how is that different from most religions? If you dont believe in my God then you are wrong & bad &going to suffer forever but if u have a relationship with my God then I wont shame u. Christians and Muslims have a serious problem with shaming, especially women& girls on what they wear. Thats 1/3rd of the planet share delusions!

No - then the word “woman” would have been used. They meant trans men. Which is also what they said. If you don’t understand the difference, there are tons of educational material you can look into, including easy to understand versions.

Featherking, they used the term 'trans men' ,(they have deleted their orginal comment), and a trans man is one who presents/ believes that even though they were born with female sex organs, they truly are a man. A trans-man is one who was assigned female at birth. A trans-woman is one who was assigned male at birth. What might be a helpful way to remember is this: the prefix of transgender is trans. Trans could also be short for transition. So one who is transgender, assigned male at birth, will have transitioned to female. (And vice-versa).
