Street Art ‘Surgeon’ Cuts Open Cartoon Characters To Reveal Their Anatomy

Have you ever wondered what the skeleton of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle or a mermaid might look like? Nychos has – this Vienna-based artist seems to have a fascination with body anatomy, turning some of his wall murals into creepy dissections.

His focus on some of our favorite cartoon characters, and their total deconstruction, reminds of the unique artworks of Dan LuVisi and Pez, two other artists who like to destroy famous characters from people’s childhoods.

Though he’s based in Vienna, this artist has hit up other street art locations, including the streets of Brooklyn, NY. Check out his site to see more of his graffiti drawings, as well as his prints and merchandise printed with work by him and other artists!

There is a beast with heart of cold stone that dashes like lightning, shreds flesh from bone. // Bewitched by this beast, I fell to my knees. My mouth babbled madness and mumbled soft pleas. // I stared down the ravenous, gnashing dark maw of a cute cuddly kitten with yarn in its paw

Amazing! Very creative, whimsical while also gruesome ~ a little shocking, but colorful and playful, too! Interesting!!!

These look too chaotic to be educational and too beautiful to be gross.

Guess I'll regret asking, but is that fox thing a cartoon character, or just a... fox thing? Thank you.

Although I love the pictures, I think that graffiti is not the best medium for this art. These would have freaked me out as a kid.

It's not necessarily "graffiti". He very well could have asked permission of either the local government or building owners to do his artwor

There are plenty of other artists that do that. Should I go asking how you're so sure Freeny hasn't stolen the idea from somebody else?
