Someone Just Noticed That Chameleons Will Hold Onto Anything You Give Them, And It’s Hilarious

As it turns out, chameleons can entertain the crowd even when they’re not changing colors. Michigan-based artist Emma Ward has shared pictures of her pet reptile Olive grabbing tiny weapon props and the internet just couldn’t handle it.

Emma’s tweet has been liked almost 400,000 times and retweeted nearly 170,000 times, making Olive one of the most popular chameleons on the web. It even got a photo-response from a flying squirrel owner whose pets share the same hobby!

“Knowing she likes to grasp anything that goes in her hands, I thought Lego swords and Evangelion weapons would be an interesting idea,” Ward told Chron.com. She got the nearly 2-year-old Olive in April 2016 from a reptile exhibition in Detroit, and they have been best friends ever since.

Not flying squirrels... they are sugar gliders. You'd think the owner would know the difference.

Definitely. If she doesn't even know what they are, how the hell is she giving them the right food and care?

If the internet couldn't handle it, then why are people on the internet liking the photos and retweeting them?

I am really fed up of phrases like 'the internet couldn't handle it' - clearly 'the internet' can.

I had a chameleon growing up. TC was an education in itself. I was saddened when our pet scooted away & we didn't find him until after he died. TC had a shoebox funeral with a headstone marker.

It's all fun and games, until someone gives their chameleon something like a lit match or cigarette to hold.

Don't give anyone such stupid ideas; there's always one in the crowd who will try that!

Please don't be so selfish. They are not pets. They deserve to live in their normal habitat.

I really don't like to see wild animals being used as toys and in hostage just for fun. So many reptiles and wild mammals dies just for "fun".

The internet can handle everything, just post some useless s**t and people will go crazy about. I just realized how much spare time does automation provide for people to do such things and how people who couldn't do anything with their lives will go crazy about it. That's science.

These animals should be free in the wild, not captured, holding b******t! The fact that they hold anything you give them is because in the nature helps them climb on trees and plants.

Dogs aren't pets either. Or cats. Or anything for that matter. It's weird for someone to chain or otherwise restrict the freedom of another living creature for their entertainment and amusement.
