Unexpectedly, nature became my source of inspiration. For many years, I was strictly a wheel-throwing pottery focusing on functional pottery. But I was beginning to lose the spark that kept me innovating. Then in the middle of 2016, with some hesitation, I got off the wheel and began exploring with soft clay slabs.

Rather than mugs and bowls, I started making animal shaped vases! I wanted to capture the character of each animal—the magnificence of whales, the charm of llamas, and many others. Each is handmade from thin clay slabs that are folded, pinched, and puffed. I like that each animal created has its own personality.

Love them all but these guys are adorable - love that you can have quirky designs and not spend a lot on flowers to really have something unique - a good reason to treat yourself to flowers even on a budget!
