These celebrities have all publicly admitted that they have mental health issues, have sought help, and want those who also suffer from similar problems to seek treatment.
Are you surprised by any of these revelations? Are any of them particularly inspiring?

Elen Degeneres, Depression
i watched the Ellen show (sitcom) before she came out. I enjoyed it the first couple years. then Arye Gross left, it started to slide. THEN, she came out, and any semblance of humor left the show. I have no homophobia at all, close family member who is gay, another who is transgender. I quit watching because it wasn't funny and every single episode revolved around Ellen being gay. Ellen needs to face it, she didn't lose her show because of coming out of the closet, she lost it because her sexual orientation became her only focus and topic.
You ignorant person. Do some reading up on this She was ostracised by everybody and made fun of - the tabloids, magazines, other celebrities, nobody would hire her, and it was directly because she came out. Her courage to be who she was shaped the LGBTQ community we have today, that was so supressed before. 1997 was a very different time. She faced 5 years of struggle and horrible treatment before making a comeback in 2002.
Load More Replies...Yes, that was a serious issue because depression is very bad for health. You discuss a great thing https://www.vucutguzellik.com/ here I also share the related blog.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
This explains a LOT with who he is as an actor and why he nails every performance. OCD will cause you to strive for no less than perfect, even when you don't even want to be. Damn.
That's not what clue of OCD is. It's really serious condition where main problems are not obsessive actions, but obsessive thoughts in your head that you can't get rid of. Trust me actions are just cover for a terrible mess that is in head. :(
Load More Replies...One of my friends also have this. Everyone going crazy about her condition, but I think this thing is cute, even if it's a bit weird.
OCD is not cute, it is a mental disorer wich can be awfull ^^

The feeling dementors give people is based on the feelings you have whilst suffering from depression.
I'm not sure who did the study but they actually was able to see depression on a PET SCAN. They took people in an acute depression phase, imaged the brain with this PET SCAN, when the people had no clinical symptoms they were imaged again. An extremely interesting result was that each subject had a certain part of the brain ( I can't recall which area) that lit up during the depression phase but did not light up when there were no clinical symptoms. This is so amazing because true depression can actually be seen on X-ray. It means that depression has been proven to be an actual disease that can be seen!!! How amazing is that?
Hayden Panettiere, Postpartum Depression
Not hormones. Neurotransmitters, yes, but not hormones.

You gotta always keep fighting. You'll make it through. In the end it's worth it♡
It does not make sense most of the times. That's why a lot of people don't understand about how you feel. Most people think depression is caused by a very negative event, something bad that happened etc., but when there is something not good with the chemistry in your brain, depression may appear at any moment. I struggled my whole life and now I know these feelings are part of me and I have to accept it and deal with it. It made me very strong and extra motivated to enjoy my life as it is, with ups and downs.
Load More Replies...I think the worst part about depression is that it doesn't have to have a specific reason for it and sometimes, even if sounds weird, being conscious that you have all you could ask for and you are anyway, not able to feel happy, makes it worst and is the worst feeling ever.
I was diagnosed with clinical depression and almost lost my family because of it. I had a great family, wonderful wife, 3 great kids but I was really down. It's a disconnect in the brain or a lack of some kind of thing that is needed to get back into the norm. At least that is what I was told by my counselor. The meds took a short while to kick in but they work and I now have very few bouts with depression and they don't last very long at all.
You've helped so many people by highlighting your own struggles, showing us that we're not alone in our own. And by creating the Always Keep Fighting campaign, we've come together to support both ourselves and others. AKF has taken wings, and it's no longer just members of the SPN community that supports it now, people who have never seen the show are following your campaign because it means something to them, as well as us. So, Always Keep Fighting, and never give up. We're all here for you.
Carrie Fisher, Bipolar I Disorder
This is so true. And worse when you're manic it seems fun and like people love you. And when you're down, its like they all talk behind your back.
exactly, I can feel it too. But also, when you're manic all your life plans seems so easy to complete ;)

bipolarity is one of those diseases that destroy you. because when you're sick, you're so bad you strapperesti eyes not to see, the ears to the heart from the chest because it hurts. but when you are well ... or Mom, when you are well you seem to fly, everything is different, better. the colors are true, they are alive, you can hear them as a flavor on the tongue or as a smell, they are so intense. and everything is more beautiful, the smells are stronger. and you're happy, or as you're happy, so happy that you cry, and laugh, and cry out to the world your joy and have even reserves. and you would never get off that magic carpet that makes you fly so high, you would never come back to hear how you felt before, you would never stop to feel omnipotent. But more and more salt after you fall down, and when you fall, you fall really fast. and you almost died falling from so high.
Why did you choose this photo? She hates this costume and has a lot of better pictures.
Brad Pitt, Depression
Adam Levine, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Maybe you should do your homework and you will clearly find that ADHD is in fact is considered a mental illness.
Load More Replies...ADHD is considered a developmental behavioral disorder. The DSM - V has deemed no longer an SED ( serious emotional disturbance) buy mental and behavioral health are very closely tied. No it might not be considered a strict mental illness, but it does not go without functial impairments
Kinda is actually... I have it but it doesn't drag me down... It makes me for fun XD
Demi Lovato, Bipolar Disorder
I love my fellow bipolar's we be a bunch of fun, about half of the time..
Jim Carrey, Depression
Interesting and sad how comedians are the ones to end up with depression. It's like they sacrifice their own happiness and mental well-being for ours...
I think it's not voluntary, and that humor for some is born of pain and suffering.

I worked on/off any job I could to maintain my kids because I never received any child support. I am doing worse every day and without insurance, income and physical health my mental illness is becoming worse every second. Gwyneth Paltrow, Postpartum Depression
Catherine Zeta-Jones, Bipolar II Disorder
I too have bipolar ll. And when Catherine Zeta-Jones went public with her struggle she really inspired me to talk about and help educate people about the ups and down of this sometimes debilitating disease. I commend her. She's an inspiration for people like me
I'm bipolar too. Sometimes I have an impression, that the only people that can really understand my feelings are the people being bipolar themselves.

The fact you're here, read this and responded to it proves that you were interested in what she said. Your comment itself wasn't interesting, and no one gives a f**k what you say, but since you're riding on the coattails of someone else, you got your 5 mins in the sunshine. And yes, I'm aware that you aren't interested in what I have to say, but you read it anyway, because it was all about you. You got the attention you were looking for, I hope it was all you wished for.

That was so cool of them to admit to their mental illness. But very necessary, so we can all let go of the stigma of mental illness.
Having a momentary identity crisis based on changing status quo is NOT, I repeat, NOT A MENTAL ILLNESS
Thank you for sharing this as it helps the rest of us to not allow our mental heath to define us. I am proud that I am able to manage my mental health on most days. I lived in shame for years and felt so alone with the enormity of mental health issues I have struggled with - BPD, dyslexic, eating disorders, addiction, depression, self-harm and suicidal ideation. We need more of these as I am one of the lucky ones who managed to find help and now hold a degree in Counselling and help others...I am proud of my journey. x
I appreciate the article, however I do feel celebrities with different types of disorders should be here. Depression is almost like the 'glamorous poster child' of mental illness when it comes to the media. What about eating disorders, personality disorders, schizophrenia, PTSD, generalized anxiety disorder, dissociative identity disorder, panic disorder....I could go on.
I think its unfair to say depression is the glamorous poster child of mental illness. Its a great thing that more celebrities are coming out saying they have depression, it just shows how prevalent depression is in our society and as such addresses stigma and highlights the needs for more services. In terms of people coming out regarding the other mental health concerns you mention maybe people still arebt comfortable talking about because of the stigma associated, i mean only now depression is being spoken about yet its so common, it must be so much harder to speak about the other illnesses.
Load More Replies...thank u for letting me know about the celebrity's with a mental illness
Fear to reveal all those types of illness goes through the whole world. Depression is almost "acceptable" in our societies. But what about schizophrenia and similar disorders? Who would like to hire you if you came out? You employer would rather imagine you as Hannibal Lecter rather than a person fighting with illness, temporary weakness, disorder coming and passing in period of time. There's got to be more said in media, to change thinking and break stereotypes. A month ago we launched a campaign in Poland to support the brave people fighting with all those disorders and fight the stereotypes https://youtu.be/0g0l43SvJcs
Jim Jeffries has great answers. Hes very rude, bigoted, racist masoganistic etc but he suffers suicidal depression and admits it on stage. His comment helped a lot actually, stopped me thinking being famous and rich is the answer to everything.
For those that have depression, come and live with me 3 months and will change your mind :) Live is beautifull, you just have to see it with other eyes :)
That's one of the most ridiculous and invalidating things ive ever heard.. its like telling someone in a wheelchair to spend time with you and then they van walk again.
