Australia is currently being ravaged by bushfires that spread across the country as the regular bushfire season took an unexpected and severe turn. Unfortunately, so far an estimated 8.4 million hectares (21 million acres; 84,000 square kilometres; 32,000 square miles) were lost to flames, alongside 2,500 buildings (including over 1,900 houses). The fires took lives of 25 people (as of 5 January 2020) and there are more gruesome losses of life as it is feared that an estimated billion animals were killed or will die due to starvation and loss of habitat caused by the flames.
Many people responded to Australia's dire situation, offering everything from thoughts and prayers to support and donations. Amongst millions of others, celebrities also chimed in and encouraged others to help and donate. While celebs like Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton urged their millions of followers to donate, others decided to lead by example as they put out real numbers and how they donated to encourage others to follow their suit. If you spotted a favorite celebrity making a donation as well, comment and let us know about their good deeds!
You can donate to help the relief efforts by clicking on the links of individual funds pages: Red Cross Disaster, NSW Rural Fire Service, Queensland Fire Service.

Comedian Celeste Barber Raised $31,705,797 In Donations (As Of January 8)
Celeste is a hilarious Aussie woman, brave and bold. I wouldn't doubt that she gave all the profit from her recent world tour towards her homeland.
For those crapping on her, FIREFIGHTERS ARE NOT GETTING PAID BY THEIR OWN GOVERNMENT. *SHE IS PAYING THEM.*
exactly!!!!!!! The MAJORITY of the firefighters, especially in rural / small town areas, are VOLUNTEERS, who take unpaid time off of work, in order to save the homes / farms of *other* people (often, while they themselves are losing their own homes to fire). Seriously, people need to stop crapping on those who are *doing* something to help, because it doesn't fulfil their idea of what 'help' should be. She has raised almost $50,000,000, and people are bitching about it? FFS.

I'm happy Rottnest island is unaffected by fired, sad enough about koalas, quakkas in danger would be even more heartbreaking.
Alecia Beth Moore (P!nk) Donated $500,000
And that's her own money, not asking fans to donate to help (though maybe she's doing that too).
Elton John Pledged $1,000,000
by all reports, yes. And all Aussies are grateful for every dollar donated, and all the positivity that is being shown during this horrific event.
Load More Replies...and every single dollar counts. Even our $10. It's $1,000,000 that Aussies didn't have before Elton gave it. It would take 100,000 of "us" donating $10 each, to get to that amount. Gratitude for all help, I find, is far more productive, whether it's $10, $1, or $1,000,000.
Load More Replies...Bugger off Ashley. Have you donated 1 million dollars? How about a lovely "Thank you, Sir Elton", then swiftly sod off to perhaps donate some non-perishables, toiletries or do anything else to actually benefit those affected.

IN other words Rebel Wilson donated maybe 2 hours of her time and no money.
Someone raised a fortune for charity and all you can comment on is her weight? What's wrong with you?

I don't know who he is, but seems to have a lovely soul... and AWESOME HAIR!
Nicole Kidman And Keith Urban Donated $500,000
As we say in my family: It's not important what you do, it's important that you do!
Please tell us Nicole and Keith .. where we can place donations where they do the most good for the victims both human and animal ... and not have the money go to finance administration pay checks. These Yanks will give a good listen if you place your gentle voice on the mike some where to make a splash.
Have any of you donation haters considered that these "cheap" celebrities may also donate privately? Have you considered that they publicly pledge one amount to get others to give, but actually give a lot more? BTW, how much have you given? How much time have you volunteered? How have you helped, other than trying to shame others for their "cheap" donations?
i cannot beleive that you cannot give more!!%%$$ it is youre country in flames!!! all of you actots directors ect,you cannot even give 1 million, you are all a bunch of hypocrites.oprah has more money than god!! jesus i dont beleive whath i see..keep youre cheap money!!!!
Umm...Could you donate 500K? I'd think not. So STFU. At least she donated money! Have you? Or donated canned goods, toys, etc? You can't say anything if you haven't donated more than 250K. And that's just one person!

Australian Youtuber Muselk Raised More Than $125,000 Through Donations
What’s wrong here. I’ll tell ya. The point that this dude didn’t donate much but raised money got upvoted here. Celeste Barber who also raised money didn’t donate much money, who’s at the top of the list, when someone pointed out that she raised money and didn’t necessarily donate all of it got downvoted. So what’s the difference here? It’s great that they’re both raising money for Australia, but they’re not exactly donating much, so being on this list might not work? I don’t know but it kinda seems like we’re picking favorites. Not that it matters. As a note nothing’s wrong that these people are raising money for Australia it’s awesome that they are, I greatly support it. I’m just pointing put something
how much did HE donate? Bono from U2 has never actually done anything more than make other people aware of the charities he represents. A Youtuber saying "hey everyone come donate money" isnt the same as a Youtuber Donating money
I agree to an extent. Someone saying "hey everyone come donate money" (and by doing so raised $125,000) has done more than the person who said nothing.

So where are all the other celebs. Pretty sure Australians watch their movies, shows and listen to their music. You need to help the community that helps you! Get it going!!
Billionaire Justin Hemmes Donated $500,000 To The RFS
Right? Don't wanna sound judgy, but he could probably donate a literal billion and still have more money than I would see in several lifetimes.
Load More Replies...Stupid when people are defending a billionaire for donating pocket change. If i donated $5 because thats the equivalent of my income to his I wouldn't be bragging about it... in fact ... I wouldn't brag at all. You shouldn't need recognition for doing the right thing.
I'm sorry...he's a BILLIONAIRE and all he can donate is $500,000???? WTF???
Comedian Celeste Barber Raised $31,705,797 In Donations. Is she 63x billionaire ?
who cares HOW much the fact that he did, he is a good man in my eyes
Kylie Jenner Reportedly Donated $1,000,000
The word reportedly is not a good thing here. I'd like to believe she did this.
She has donated nothing. I checked 4 search engines and all I found was "reportedly". This is pure fiction so far, from the PR team that makes the Kardashians look amazing.
I don't believe for a moment she did. I would have to see a receipt from the charity.
if this couldn't be verified like the others, it shouldn't be on here!
Donate 5c and you've already done more than the government here. I am very grateful to all the people donating, particularly directly to the firefighters, but it bothers me so much that all our support comes from celebrities and good samaritans instead of the leaders we pay billions to for exactly this purpose.
hey @littlesaresare do you have some names of organizations that are trustful so that we can donate to them? I am trying to inform myself on where I can donate money but too many sources and not sure which are reliable, I hope that since you're living there maybe you know more about those that are the real deal!

I hope more of the Australian millionaires and billionaires step forward. I have family over there and the stories are just horrific. The loss of wildlife and plant life is overwhelming.
bear in mind a lot of people who give generously do it confidentially, not for praise or attention. they may be giving millions and it just hasn't been made public
Load More Replies...I just hope they don't give a cent to the Red Cross. Only a small % will end up actually in aid, the rest will go towards the CEOs exorbitant salary, staff wages, marketing campaigns and general admin costs. They were heavily criticised after the Box Day Tsunami (Dec 2004) that so little of the Australian donations made it to the people on the ground in Indonesia. Sad but true, just Google it along with the 'worst charities'.
Sadly all the money in the world isn't going to bring back the billions of animals and landscapes lost
But it will help the people who fought the fires, the people who worked to rescue those in trouble (everyone's in trouble, though), supplying people with food, water and hygene, and, when hopefully it's over, it may help people to rebuild and recover.

Id like to see some of our own millionaires help out somewhat. Reinhardt, The Packers just to name a few. The little aussie battlers seem to be more willing to do their bit, with not much in their purse to begin with, but still want to help. Meanwhile, I wonder how many hands will be in the donation coffers, before funds raised gets on the ground?!
They are, which is bloody brilliant. $70 million donated by mining magnate, Andrew Forrest. <3 https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-01-09/andrew-forrest-pledges-$70m-donation-to-bushfire-relief/11854654
