my cat used to sit quietly , close her eyes and pretend as if she didnt exist

Every cat I've had reacts differently at the vet. Dickens would sit perfectly still and just shed copiously, creating hair cloud defense system for about two feet around him. Shasta, the friendliest cat I've ever seen, jumps excitedly on everything and greets the vet enthusiastically. Frost Claw - my gentle, giant teddy-bear - goes to the vet in a cloth bag because when he was a tiny kitten he was afraid of the crate and the bag was what he needed to feel comfortable. He still goes in the bag even though he doesn't really fit any more, and he cuddles up against me, burying his head just up to his eyes, and sometimes even purrs even though he's absolutely terrified.

These are really funny. :D Our cat likes the vet more than us, apparently. :) He's absolutely relaxed every time (with this one specific vet, when it's a different one, he becomes "invisible" too).

The beautiful Tortie looks so much like my cat Ferret. I miss her so much. As a kitten, she looked so much like a ferret in the face, that the name stuck.

On one visit the suspended ceiling had a little corner panel missing and before I knew it the cat was through it. Believe me, we had one hell of a time getting her out.

These cats are anti-vaxxers.

Oh boy, this reminds me of a situation I got myself in a few years back... I'm disabled and can't drive, and my parents were out on a several day long trip. Of course, my cat chooses THAT TIME to be sick. I had to take her to the vet. I couldn't find the carrier (we had recently moved), I ended up using a box and having to call a taxi to take me to the vet. Turns out she was fine. While I was waiting for another taxi to take me home, the receptionist says, 'why not let her out of the box until your ride comes?' I say, 'are you sure it's safe? She likes to hide'. The receptionist said it was fine. Naturally, my cat found the ONE spot where she could get behind the heavy metal shelving display, which we had to haul out to rescue her. Meanwhile the taxi was waiting for me... XD... They stuck something in front of that spot ever since. I felt so bad. The ironic part is... she spent the first few months of her life in a vet office.You'd think she'd be used to them.

I wish we could explain to them that these people are there to help them. I hate that they get so stressed about it.

When we go to the vet my older cat love to climb on my shoulders..and sits like a parrot or like a fur scarf touching my head..Maybe he feel more secure with contact and higher position..he does this only in this situation..

Hah! Never mind cats, try taking a hen to the vets. Now that's tough! And the looks on the faces of the dogs in the waiting room when they heard said hen crow. Priceless!

Those kitties are brave. I couldn't even come out of my carrier

My special needs kitty did that for most of her life. We had no idea she had a spinal birth defect because the vet never got to see her walk because she was always in the sink. We got a mobile vet who came to the house when everyone got too old for the car. New vet noticed IMMEDIATELY that kitty sat and walked as if she had a spinal problem. If the old vet would have noticed when kitty was young, she coulda surgery to fix it. Nothing could fix the special needs brain though.

My female cat jumps in the vet's lap and puts her head in/under? his armpit.

My *dog* does this. I have a little bichon frise. I look away for five seconds and she is hiding under the sink or under the chair or once behind the garbage can. Spry for a ten year old.

i hold my cat and try to make it feel better until the vet and vet tech comes in, then the vet tech pets and soothes the cat the entire time. i wouldn't let it loose to be scared and try to hide.

Ok, so my cat was really scared of the vet. And she was so scared that she was peeing every time we will take her outside the house to take her to the vet. So, I and my boyfriend used to pretend that we are getting ready, and putting on shoes. Then, one of us would take her one meter out of the house, and the second one would hold a vessel under her, and she would pee in it, as usual. After that we would leave the house to the vet for real. This trick kept working all the time, lol. The funny thing is that she was scared, but actually enjoyed the car rides and would feel fine after we leave the house. Just the moment of leaving exactly was freaking her out.

The smell in the vet's clinics must be horrible for them. poor things. Even I, just a biped human though with some feline tendencies, hate clinics and hospitals as well. The smell of the caustic chemicals affect their senses. Ugh.
