Cats don't own smartphones, mainly because touch screens aren't easy to use when you have paws. But if they did they'd probably use them to crank call dogs, ignore calls from their humans, and Google the best strategies for world domination. Most cats who hate to be held have never been held correctly. I've gotten many a cat to learn that being held by me is safe and easy and might even feel good- but it takes time, patience and respect. Most people just don't seem to care.

I get that people want pictures of their cats. My now deceased older dog never liked taking photos, so now I have nearly none left of her (I'm glad my younger dog doesn't mind at all). But do you really need to force the cat to pose? Just snap a picture when they're being naturally cute, it even looks much better.
