“Left My Cat Alone With A Camera For 30 Minutes And Now I Can Never Leave Again”
Interview With OwnerDue to the coronavirus pandemic, many of us are spending much more time at home than usual. It certainly affects our relationship with our loved ones and pets. Most pets are happy with this overdose of their owner’s attention, because they are never alone and don’t have to feel left out when their owner heads to work.

The fact that pets feel sad and alone when their owners leave even for an hour was proven by Ida Myrin. She shared a video that she took with a hidden camera of her cat, who was left alone in an empty apartment for less than an hour during the quarantine. This video is truly heartbreaking and hard to watch. Scroll down for Bored Panda’s interview with Ida Myrin!

This little fellow’s name is Isola and he turned 3 years old in February. Ida says that they “got him when he was 12 weeks old from a breeder (Maggiedolls) and he’s a ragdoll.” Isola has a very playful and loving personality, but sometimes he gets lazy. “He is kinda spoiled and lazy, but also loving. He always demands our attention and yells every time he doesn’t get it. He’s always moving so that he can see us both, he loves a good cuddle, but hates faces. When he was a kitten he often stopped what he was doing to randomly hit the floor instead and he has NO ball control. We also think that he is a bit claustrophobic. He loves feet. LOVES.”

At the beginning of the video, Isola comes from the kitchen with a leash between his teeth. His eyes search for a trace of his owner and when he cannot find her, he starts to meow in a very sad manner. At one point, he lets go of the leash and starts to look in every corner of the apartment hoping to see her. Without any luck, he then grabs the leash once again, but this time, his meowing is even more heartbreaking. “He has always been very attached to us, but lately, he’s gotten more used to always having somebody around. He can’t stand us working and focusing on other things than him at the moment,” explains Ida.

When asked how Isola behaved when she came home, Ida said: “He didn’t even come to say hi (like he usually ALWAYS does), but went straight to the other cat to smell him.” When she decided to watch the video and find out what he does when no one’s around, she was surprised. “At first, we laughed, especially when he booped the camera, but then it was actually kind of heartbreaking.”

Many commenters were heartbroken and advised Ida to get another cat so this little fellow wouldn’t have to feel alone again even for a second. However, Ida explained that she already has another cat that she had to take to the vet at the time when the video was filmed. She didn’t want to hurt him and certainly didn’t expect him to act this way.
Many commenters were heartbroken:
Some shared their own experiences with their cats:
Some even recommended getting her kitty a pal:
However, Ida explained that she already has another cat:
Well, the good news is that the famous cat is happy now and didn’t have to wait a long time for his owner to come back. Ida even shared a picture that she took when she arrived home with her other cat—her two feline friends laying together and enjoying each other’s company. “They usually get along, but the other cat is an 8-year-old man with integrity so he doesn’t always appreciate Isola’s company. But they groom each other and sleep together from time to time.”
