For most of us, autumn is the season of pumpkins, hot beverages, warm sweaters, and watching squirrels merrily playing in the leaves. So obviously when we heard that there’s a cat out there with a tail like a squirrel’s, we were overjoyed.

Meet Bell, a truly majestic cat with a tail so fluffy you probably wish you could touch to see how soft it is. Bell’s owner keeps other pets as well, so she is always surrounded by furry friends, whether they’re feline or canine.

We’re huge cat fans and we hope that you are as well. So when you’re done with this article, check out Bored Panda’s previous posts about the amazing Finnish cat Sämpy, the grumpy cats Bocco and Zuu, a constantly surprised-looking cat with a penchant for poetry called Zelda, as well as a woman from Moscow who photoshops cat faces on animals and random objects.

Meet Bell the cat

She has a fluffy tail

Just like a squirrel

Bell’s owner ricorico_rico has more than 153,000 people following the antics of their pets on Instagram. Not going to lie, folks, Bell’s friends are just as adorable, too. And the videos of them all playing around together made us smile.

We’d love to see how soft it is

Bell lives in Japan

Bell is a Minuet cat

Currently, Bell is 3 years old and will turn 4 next May. She is a Minuet (aka the Napoleon cat), which is a mix of Persians and Munchkins (that’s right, there’s a feline breed called that). Or, to put it meowthematically, Persians x Munchkins = the Cat Emperor of France.

Minuet cats are also known as Napoleon cats

They’re bred from Persians and Munchkins

The Minuet breed is known for its amazing coat…

Minuet cats are known for their short legs, round faces, and dense fur coats. An interesting fact is that despite its short legs, a Minuet is able to jump, run, and play just as agilely as any other breed of cat.

…as well as short legs

We’d love to have a cat like Bell in our office

Napoleon cats are incredibly healthy: they have very few health-related problems. That’s mostly because Minuets were bred to avoid the various health defects that Persian cats have, such as the excessive formation of tears, the blockage of tear ducts, flattened faces, as well as fur coats that tended towards matting.

So weird to read that according to Bored Panda these cats are very healthy, while when I read on a trustworthy website (in my native language) about Napoleons/Munchkins it seems that these bred races have lots of defects and high risk for PKD and should be avoided.

The short legs look a bit ridiculous in comparison to other cats, but some people find it cute and that is reason enough for them to breed and buy such cats. The poor cats can't climb, run and jump like other cats, and they can't clean or scratch themselves properly, even if this article denies that. In Germany these breeds are not allowed because it is animal cruelty.

i have had plenty of experience, in breeding and owning persians, this is some wild fad of taking a deformity, bastardizing it and creating a new so called breed

Do not breed genetic defects just because you think it's pretty! Both munchkins and persians are breeds with a lot of congenital diseases and the crossbreed is no different. This shouldn't be advertised :(

What better way to f**k with a cat's health than to breed a Persian with a Munchkin? Dear god, those poor animals. Anyone who says that they don't have any health problems is flat out lying.

I hate seeing special cat breeds. Why do we still do this ? There's absolutely no use for it, except humpan entertainment, which (in my opinion) is not sufficient reason to breed deformed creatures :-(

I think both the breeding of Persians and of Munchkins is abominable, so a cross is horrible. I have a fluffy-tailed darling that's just an alley cat, perfectly normal, except she carries her tail like that, too. (Nutcase...) And she talks. Constantly. So it's possible without crossing two breeds that shouldn't have been in the first place.

Incredibly cruel breeding legless cats. Make stuffed toys if you find it cute, otherwise, chop the breeders legs off at the knees and see how they like it! Marvellous tail, though!

considering the fact that only about 25% of cats entering shelters find homes, breeders should be completely ashamed of themselves. a cat is killed in a U.S. shelter every ten seconds.

Gorgeous. No matter how many "defects" this breed is alleged to have, just having such preciousness in ones life even for a short time is worth it. What a gorgeous cat.
