If you've ever tried to call a cat somewhere in a foreign country, I'm sure you've noticed that they don't always react. Why? Because apparently international cats react to different sounds.

In England, they say "chh-chh-chh". In Israel, they say "ps-ps-ps". As for India, they say "meow-meow". Each country gets a cat's attention with different noises, and these were just a couple examples! Keep on scrolling for a list of how to call cats in a bunch of different countries, compiled by Bored Panda.

In my region we also use ci ci/tsi tsi instead of the above. But only to unknown cats. My cat usually reacts to "are you hungry?'"

As someone from northeast China, I instantly thought of miaomiaomiao too. But mimi also works. It's more for a kitten where miaomiao is just for cats in general

I put this through Google Translate and it had been translated as 'Seconds and seconds'

Oh, well I usually saw mao-mi, or mi-mi, and I'm Chinese. Guess it's based on region.

And endlessly amusing to me always because one term for breasts is pronounced "Tsitsi" so it's as though you're calling out for your runaway pair of boobs.

As an American... this is true, I hear this all the time...usually by people who have no business near a cat.

I always called a cat "kss-kss-kss" and I am from Latvia. "Minka-minka" is an old school nowadays used by old people or in a country side.

Face off! I don't know which side to look at. They are both perfectly beautiful! Would you have two names for this kitty?
