Cakes are no longer just dessert served to guests on special occasions. Today, many of them are true edible works of art! To prove this, we present to you a cake artist whose works won the First International Best Prize at Cake International in 2017, the world’s largest cake competition held in the UK.
Chinese patissier Zhou Yi is best known as “Sugar King” in his native country and looking at his incredibly detailed and beautiful handmade works, it’s easy to understand why. Yi molds fondant into human figurines that look more like porcelain dolls than edible decorations. His works mostly feature elements of Chinese culture and traditional art. One of his best works includes Wu Zetian, China’s first and only female emperor, which was presented at the cake competition. The statue was so incredibly detailed that the viewers could even count her eyelashes!
Yi has spent many hours learning Chinese techniques of food carving and dough modeling. Therefore, we can now certainly call him a grandmaster when it comes to molding fondant into figurines and accessories. He even operates a cake workshop named Suzhou, near Shanghai, and regularly posts his intricate works on his social media accounts for his fans.

The peacock is like, "Oh my GOSH. Did you see that person's outfit? How DARE they go outside with those shoes."
Wow so talented. It's a shame that these are cakes and therefore so transient
Amazing Cakes. Fantastic! I dont want to eat these all cakes. omg... so beautiful art...
That's not how an angry tiger looks. That's how a tiger with back pain looks.
That looks like the anime version of Aunt Grizelda from the lorax lmao
The figures are exquisite but the females are abnormally thin to the point of anorexic which makes me sad. He could easily make them a healthier weight & they would still be as lovely.
"I don't need Mario, I'm perfectly capable to save myself(although it might come as a shock to you!)"
Cant believe these are cakes. Amazing. I would love to own these as collectable figures
Can't believe these are cake decorations, they look like an amazing figurine collection
I would simply want to faint if I saw someone cutting into these work of arts to eat it!
Saw this guy in a tv show a while back, he has absolue talent. He created this one for the fantasy drama "The Untamed" It looks soo much like the real actors Xiao Zhan (black) and W**g Yibo (white) tumblr_add...9b03df.jpg
They are incredible. Perhaps too much so. In most there is nowhere for your eyes to rest, to focus on.
Thank goodness they are saved on the internet so one can take one's time looking.
Load More Replies...Isn't weird how in english the "fancy" version of words is just the french word? Like "he's not a baker, he's a patissier", "this is not a dress, it's a robe", better than a date, it's a rendez-vous"... Why??
