Hello, I'm Requinoesis! But you can also call me Requino!

I'm a digital artist passionate about worldbuilding, looking to gain more experience as an art director for indie games!

They say I'm a shark in disguise (maybe?) swimming around the internet. But I'm just an artist, trying to convey an important message from the depths of the oceans to people up on land!

With my artwork, I try to purify the "Jaws feeling" that haunts the image of sharks, showing that there are many more creative and imaginative possibilities in these creatures than just their jaws!

In 2020 during the pandemic, my friend Olivier and I idealized Sharktober! It's an artistic challenge, where other artists could draw a list of themes related only to sharks! Our goal is to create and diversify shark creative content!

These are my latest Sharktober artworks for 2022 and some extras from 2021 and 2020! I hope you enjoy getting to know these little worlds that I created, and I hope it inspires you to get closer to the mysterious and fascinating reality of sharks!

You can check out Olivier's fantastic artwork here!

Alien Shark

Finally, with the technological rise of the little shark people, exploration of the hidden ocean of a frozen moon became possible and unimaginable things were discovered!

Report

I love the ocean. From the marine life that inhabits it, I love sharks the most, because they have been taking care of the health of the seas for millions of years, since long before the dinosaurs, way long before the first trees grew, and that fascinates me a lot!

We have to remember that thanks to a healthy ocean, our civilization was born and evolved from the abyssal depths, making sharks the guardians of our primordial nursery, so I think we owe them some respect!

When I was a child, I had a very vivid imagination and loved to create imaginary worlds to escape reality. Games like "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask" and "Starcraft" inspired me to build fantastical and elaborate universes. Over time, I realized that I really enjoyed worldbuilding and began to explore art as a way to bring my creations into reality.

I wanted to learn piano as a child, but my parents could not afford to send me to a music school or buy me a musical instrument. Perhaps if this had happened, I would have found in music a different way to express my imagination. However, paper and crayons turned out to be much more accessible to me, especially when I discovered the practicality of digital art.

Eventually, I found purpose in my art when I became aware of the reality of sharks and realized how poorly they are represented in creative media. I decided that I could use my art to help change.

My favorite part about creating my art is the ability I have gained to convey good and curious feelings to people, especially in making people aware of the reality of sharks.

Many people have told me that my art has inspired them to explore new facets of their lives or to see sharks and the ocean from a new perspective, which is hardly explored in creative circles.

This really delights me, and I feel very grateful to be able to convey these good feelings. I hope to be able to create bigger and bigger things one day! When possibly the first thing people think of sharks are things like my artwork, rather than things like "Jaws", I will be fully realized.

Besides sharks, I have always been fascinated by the video game world, and one of my work goals was to be a game artist. With the help of game design college, I realized that what I was looking for exactly was to be an art director for games!

I am currently finishing my first major job as art director for the game "Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles", in which I helped create all the worldbuilding and visual context for characters, environments and interface. I still have a lot to learn, but I hope I did a good job.

My main goal is to be able to create casual indie games with the shark universes I created. Most of the ideas I expressed through these Sharktober arts were to set the art direction for future game ideas I want to develop one day! The world needs more games with a more engaging, interesting, and creative representation of sharks.
