The love and support between siblings can take many forms. Like making them a cup of hot cocoa after a long day at school. Or hiding a plastic spider underneath their covers to distract them from their worries. But some siblings go above and beyond the call of duty.

Meet Maverick Francisco Oyao from the Philippines who designed and created a fabulous winter ball gown for his sister Lu Asey’s prom night. Photos of the beautiful dress are now going viral online.

When you’re done with this post, check out Bored Panda’s article about a high school student from the Philippines, Ciara Gan, who painted her very own prom dress that took a month to design and make.

Their family couldn’t afford a dress, so Mave took it upon himself to make his sister happy

He even hand-painted the bodice

Mave from Zamboanga City undertook the fashion design project when he learned that his sister wanted to attend her school’s Junior and Senior prom in February. However, ball gowns are incredibly expensive and their family couldn’t afford to rent a dress.

You can watch a video that shows the dress in more detail right here

So Mave took it upon himself to make her happy, literally crafting the gown design with his bare hands. He even painted part of the dress to create a unique and stylish piece of clothing! The prom happened on Valentine’s Day, so the dress design was a perfect example of brotherly love for the occasion.

The brother even joked that he’d avoid getting married just so he could support his sister in the future. Mave drew inspiration from ball dresses and other clothes designs, “especially Michael Cinco’s spring and summer collection.” According to the brother, some people helped him out financially so he could buy the materials needed to finish the dress.

Here’s a video of how Mave’s sister looks wearing the dress

Funnily enough, Mave isn’t a fashion designer by trade. He told curious internet users that he was studying culture and arts education at university. He also revealed that it took him around a week and a half to finish the dress.

Unfortunately, Mave’s sister didn’t win the Best Dress award at the school prom. But they were both happy with the end result. Even though some internet users commenting on the dress suggested that it would have looked better with a few minor changes.

As photos of the dress went viral, some people couldn’t help but compliment Mave’s handiwork

Are you kidding me? I could barely put together a pillow in my sewing class (that's four pieces of fabric folks). And this child is creating couture gowns? Someone snatch him up and give him a fashion design career...quick! Absolutely beautiful work, I mean look at those flowers!

I'm not a crafty person, so I have no idea how much material costs. But the amount of materials and detail that went in to this make me question the cost of a rental dress being more expensive!

Renting dresses can be very expensive. Sometimes you have to put down a hefty deposit so the shop can cover itself just in case the dress doesn't come back and if you don't bring it back in A1 pristine condition you have to stump up the rest of the money after the deposit which you will have lost to cover the full cost of the dress and that will include the profit the shop makes on the dress.
