Bride Decides To Be Her Own Wedding Photographer And The Result Is Better Than Most Wedding Photos
Tallinn-based photographer Liisa Luts and her husband decided to do something unusual for their wedding on August 28th. The couple, who run a small photography and videography company, agreed that Liisa would take their wedding photos, using a mirror when necessary. Everyone was surprised by the result.
“I just felt that I want something different, not those posed beauty shots and not that post-processed glamorous photo gallery,” Luts told PetaPixel. “With all respect to the wedding photographers, I just wanted something more ‘us’…And what could be more real than me taking the photos myself…?”

Share on FacebookI am sure. The most wedding photos are horrible. It is very very hard to find a really good wedding photographer. But this photos are wonderful! Really artistic!
Load More Replies...I agree, that one is just perfect,, she summarized the whole story so perfectly, sharing the journey with us, makes me feel as though i was there,, haha
Load More Replies...Of course it is! Although not all of them. "Liisa would take their wedding photos." Liisa was the bride. If a bride takes pictures of HER wedding, what do you call that?
Load More Replies...Better or not, it is original and intimate, suitable for time we are living in. I renmember time when there was no 'wedding photographers' one of the guests would just take a group photo of all the people or just few important ceremony details. Afret all, it's their wedding and they can do whatever they like.
I love them. I don't think the idea is for everyone but I think they are great.
How is this better? It is just good enough and still great way to store their memories, sometimes you do not need "perfect" photos because it tells the story with its "imperfection" and some people value that more...but definitely not so amazing.
This is cute, yes, that's true. Pretty nice, really. But I don't think it's really better than 'most' wedding photographers.
If the couple is happy, I'm happy for them! It's THEIR wedding. The photos look great and capture the mood perfectly.
As a photographer. I love these. As a bride, I'd have considered it, but I don't alway want the camera in the image. Also, not all photographers enjoy shooting the over-posed and over-processed stuff. I love my work to be natural, and that's why I love the natural beauty of her images.
These are made with analog camera not phone as you can see from the mirror shots.
Load More Replies...These were all wonderful in their candidness. I'm getting married on September 26th (a week from now as I type this) so the shot of his hand with his ring on it and the last shot both brought me to happy tears. Thank you for sharing these!
It's better than most wedding photos because it's what they wanted. No same old photos and no 6,000.00 bill. And it's WHAT she wanted so that's all that counts. If your hating on them then your just a d**k for thinking your way would be better. So be careful not to be a d**k.
I am a newbie. I have been reading blogs and experiementing with my camera different tricks to capture great images. A professional photographer introduced me to Trick Photography and Special Effects E-Book + Video Course. It helped me developed stunning shots and provides a lot of tricks and tips. It's very enjoyable to read. You can check this site http://bestdigitalcameraoutlet.com/photographytricks/ for more information. Hope this helps.
They look artistic but instagram type of artistic. Some of the photo makes it seems that the marriage is unhappy one. First photo shows no emotional connection between the bride and the groom. Third one shows the groom did not really looking forward for this wedding. Tenth photos makes the officiant looks like an executioner (marriage is a death sentence for her?)
To be perfectly honest, I get the impression that the bride doesn't like her own face. In most of the shots, her face is hidden behind the camera or her hands. Why?
I enjoyed these photos, but I'm sad I didn't get to see more candid photos of the bride because she was busy taking all of the photos herself. Not to belittle the work you've done here. It's still good. :)
some pics are good, some others are very bad. It's hard to find a really good wedding photographer but it is not impossible... Here are some good pictures by Federica Pace...http://www.italianlakeswedding.com/blog/lake-como-weddings/star-wars-ceremony-at-villa-balbianello/
It is questionable to call these photos better than most wedding photos, at least in a country where wedding photography is a thriving business. I would definitely call these photos unique with a great sense of storytelling. Nevertheless, they're good photos.
Interesting, but not a great idea. I can understand a budget, my mother took most of mine.
These photos are better than the most wedding pictures. They are so natural, so full of passion and I can only congratulate you for it. Simply awesome! ;)
I wonder whose wedding photos these were better than? They should get compensation!!!
Different. (Maybe their friends have a few more orthodox pics to share.)
These are beautiful, heartfelt, timeless photos. I love how intimate they feel, and I love the use of ambient light. They feel both somber and ecstatic - she did an amazing job capturing the moments that meant the most to her and her new husband. Bravo!
I don't find these to be better than most wedding photos. The big problem about selfies that I have is that the person is so into taking the picture, they're not living in the moment. A bride not living in the moment of her wedding (like the one when she's hugging someone and is more into taking the picture) is rather sad to me.
Unique ~ more emotion and mood ~ captures memories best ~ Great idea ~
These are so intimate, so precious. All the Negative Nellies can keep their generic professional photos where the poses are all the same. I think these will bring feelings of a pure love for this couple for many years.
While sweet and representative of them, as she states, to me, they are not representative of what wedding photos should be. Then again - I am not here. Myself I say- meh. But I do like the last pic.
quality does not matter anymore. important is just to be hipster today... this post is just c**p, sorry...
Sorry, these are not 'better than most wedding photgraphers.' Being 'real' is not necessarily good. The exposure and white balance is far off in virtually every one shown. It is possible to be real and spontaneous and actually well exposed and composed so that viewers see through the framae into the reality of the picture.
these photos are beautiful!!! my favorite is the couple driving with the top down
Tis will mean more to them in later years; and it saved them a ton of money...
I don't think these are very good. My 11 year old could of done better.
I got the usual reaction when looking at the photos of someone I don't know - indifference. Fine for them and their friends, etc. but keep it to yourselves.
ok., but why is he wearing his ring on his right hand!? (Car picture)...couldn't help but notice. Beautiful and humble. Still think it would have been better if someone else took some photos, even a friend.......
I like it. She gets to remember the day the way she experienced it, not the way a photographer saw it.
Loved it! It said what you wanted. I loved the one with the two children. The people behind with smiles showed a happy time.
As a professional wedding photographer myself, I think it was a really stupid idea. REALLY stupid. Twenty years from now, are THOSE the photos they're going to show to their children and grandchildren ? If it's true that the attorney who represents himself has a fool for an attorney, then the same is true for these folks. Were they just cheap or wanted to be published on Bored Panda ? Probably both, notwithstanding the foolishness of it. And the photos are c**p to boot; real photographers don't use cell phones or shoot one-handed with amateur gear. ARRRRRRRRGH !
As a wedding photographer myself, I think it was a really stupid, insensitive idea. Probably both, but foolish notwithstanding. ARRRRRGH !
uh, not really.... she took some neat photo's but not nearly enough, no proper portraits etc. What a shame
