“Unfriend And Block”: Bride Heartbroken After Entering Empty Venue As Guests Failed To Show Up

“Unfriend And Block”: Bride Heartbroken After Only 5 Guests Show Up To Her WeddingBride Stunned As Only 5 Guests Show Up To Wedding, Sparks Outpouring Of Support OnlineBride Heartbroken After Only 5 Guests Show Up To Wedding, Shares Emotional Video

When Kalina Marie, an Oregon bride, opened the doors for her wedding ceremony on November 2, her heart broke. Instead of seats full of friends and family, applause, and celebration, she found nothing but an empty room.

“Five people showed up. Are you kidding me?” she wrote in disbelief on a TikTok post uploaded last Wednesday (November 6). She explained to her followers that she had invited more than 75 people over the internet, and 25 others were personally asked to attend.

Highlights
  • Only 5 out of 100 invited guests showed up to Kalina's wedding.
  • Kalina's viral video amassed 6.7M views, with follow-up clips gaining 2M more.
  • Supporters offered to fill the venue if Kalina hosted another ceremony.
  • Kalina shared her PO Box, open to supportive letters and gifts.

“I dreamed I would walk into a bunch of people cheering us on. Hooting and hollering for us in celebration, but all you see is a woman trying to hold herself together because she had no idea how to deal with her almost completely empty venue,” she continued.

Kalina’s story moved her viewers, with many offering to pack the venue if she were to host a second ceremony.

An Oregon bride went viral after sharing a heartbreaking video of being stood up by friends and family at her wedding ceremony, to which only five people attended

The bride explained that the absence of her loved ones took her entirely by surprise, as she had expected many of her supposed friends to attend the party. Rubbing salt in her wound was the fact that, according to her, not only did the people she invited not go to the wedding, but they hadn’t even sent her a message.

“What did we do? Am I that bad of a person? What did my husband ever do to deserve any of this? Why couldn’t we matter enough for people to show up?” she asked. “It truly makes me sick. I honestly can’t wrap my head around this yet.”

The video shows Kalina entering the ceremony with only the aforementioned five people present, with a couple of hired photographers taking pictures. She walks in accompanied by her husband, who is wearing an untucked black shirt, jeans, and a white necktie, and her son, who is wearing a similar getup.

Follow-up videos show the bride dancing alongside her mother, cousin, and best friend, all wearing ballroom masks while a video plays in the background. “This hurts my heart for you,” the caption reads, taken from a comment on her previous post.

Kalina Marie’s clips surrounding the event went viral, with almost 9 million views and thousands of comments urging her to host a second ceremony so they can attend

Her first video quickly went viral, amassing more than 6.7 million views at the time of writing, with follow-up clips totaling an additional 2 million views.

@kalina_marie_23 This is our entrance to our Masqurade ball. The Masqurade ball that I have talked EXCESSIVELY about for the last 10 months. The same ball that I not only digitally invited over 75 people to. But ALSO spent money to send 25 beautiful invitations out to. FIVE PEOPLE SHOWED UP!!!!!!! Like, are you kidding me!?!? As you see in the video, we enter the venue. And no one is there. The invite said 1pm. My mom messaged me at 1:15 that no one was there. My husband and I finally showed up at 2oclock, to 5 people. In a venue planned for 40. I dreamed that I would walk in to a bunch of people cheering us on. Hooting and hollering for us in celebration……but all you see is a woman trying to hold herself together because she had NO idea how to deal with her venue being almost completely empty. All the wasted food and drinks. All the empty tables and chairs. Every moment of my reception changed to adapt. Did we still make the most of it?? You bet your SWEET @$$ we did. But did this video just take all the good moments and shoot them out of the water for a second, F$&K yea it did 😔 It just makes me think, like, why? What did we do? Am I that bad of a person? What did my husband ever do to deserve any of this? Why couldn’t we matter enough for people to show up? I still have “friends” that haven’t even messaged me to congratulate me or tell me why they didn’t come. It truly makes me sick. I honestly can’t wrap my head around this yet. But all I know is, I have my man. My baby. And family that shows up when I need them. And for that, I will be thankful ❤️ #FAIL #fyp #whereisthelove ♬ original sound – Sara Lones

More important than the views were the 15,000 comments sympathizing with her situation and offering to attend a possible second wedding

“Let’s do it over. This time, invite me and the rest of us. We’ll show up and out. I love you, beautiful. Congratulations!” wrote one follower. “We have to redo it! We’re all showing up!” said another.

Her clip reached people from other continents, with one reader asking her to host the party in South Africa. “I promise the whole nation will be at your party!” she joked.

While Kalina expressed her gratitude and shock at the massive outpouring of support and good comments she received, she stated that she was not considering hosting a redo, explaining that the ceremony helped her recognize the essential people in her life.

“Thank you all for offering a redo; wouldn’t that be amazing? But, like many of you have said. My little group is really all I need. And now I truly know who is there for me and who is not.”

While the bride shot down the possibility of holding a redo ceremony, she shared her PO Box with her followers, open to receiving letters and gifts

In a recent video uploaded yesterday (November 10), Kalina shared a video of herself dancing in front of a mirror, proudly showcasing her wedding dress

“If I could wear this dress every day, I would. I felt like such a princess,” she said, explaining that Rebecca Ingram designed it, and the model was Galina.

The bride also stated that she and her husband got engaged on Christmas 2019, right before the COVID-19 pandemic “hit the world and shut everything down.”

“Just like it has been for everyone else, the last four years have been a struggle. But this year, we finally decided to tie the knot,” Kalina said.” I have waited four years to wear this beautiful dress. Thank you guys for loving it so much!”

The bride also revealed that, while the option of a redo event is off the table, people interested in sharing words of support via letter could do so at her PO Box: Kalina and Shane, 1047, Saint Helens, Oregon. 97051.

Viewers told Kalina that they would be open to attending a party for her first anniversary, and others said they had already sent her a few surprises in the mail

Netizens urged the bride to reconsider and open herself up to hosting another party. While many understood that she and her husband might not be ready due to grief and anger over being stood up by their families, they still said they would be willing to attend an event to mark their anniversary.

“I’d happily pitch in for another get-together to mark y’all 1st anniversary!” one fan said.

Others promised to send her gifts, hoping to brighten the couple’s day.

“Something from Texas will be arriving this week!” a viewer said.

Another wrote, “I’m Sending you a card. Congratulations; you looked beautiful. Love from Australia.”

Bored Panda has reached out to Kalina Marie for comment.

“The most important people where there,” wrote one viewer, as others joined in to comfort the bride about what happened

Deeply suspicious this. 95 people plus ones don't not attend just like that. Where were their respective families? Why was the groom dressed so shabby? Seems like a con job to get sympathy and presents from the gullible....

This👆 I have received 2 invites for parties via text and when I mapped the address it was wrong (one was going to send me to an empty field lol). Fortunately I checked in advance and asked the host for the correct address. Also, emailed invites seem too casual for a wedding, but I’m pry old fashioned.

There has to be more to the story. It was a masquerade theme, it seems. Maybe the bride/groom were some sort of "Bridezillas" and were demanding too much from guests? Also, no bridal party?, witnesses (MOH and BM)? I am with G A, I bet there is a GOFUNDME sympathy page floating around.

Also, she's walking into a reception hall. The chairs are at tables, so what's the deal there? That's not even a set up for someone to be married. It looks like they had access to a rec hall or a venue but that's not usually the setup for a ceremony with chairs facing away from the bride and groom. The set up supports a reception but not a ceremony so...the details seem a bit off.

I don't believe this for an instant. 75 invites online and 25 in person? Only 5 showed? And afterwards she gives her address so her "followers" can send gifts? Set up. She just scammed all of you out of money and gifts. Either that, or she's a horrible monster of a person and doesn't deserve anything.

Well, there's obviously more to the story here. But I'm going to lean in with the people who say this is fake. Did you notice that there are hardly any personal decorations in the venue? Just the lights that you might expect to be part of the regular decorations. Only a few balloons on the ceiling. And such a shabby looking groom. Not to mention that the bride is like, like "Yes, it was all so sad, but all you strangers can send me gifts if you like". Yeah, no. So either it's fake, her family didn't support the marriage for some reason, or possibly they put so little effort into organizing the wedding that people didn't take it serious.

Well she said she invited that many people. She didn't say they rsvp'd; you can invite however many people you want, what matters is people who confirmed they were coming. Also when was her wedding? Was it on Halloween or another big day? Did she have food and such? Was it an open bar? Was the venue far away or the people she invited in a different city or country? What about the grooms family and friends? Was she demanding or maybe the relationship is abusive or she stole a friend's boyfriend. Not nearly enough details..and what does inviting over the internet mean? A group email? Messenger texts? How much time did people have to respond?

Apparently non-stop obsessing over your wonderful wedding for months before time is not enough to entice people to attend a hullaballoo at the local VA Post. How long after the "viral video" appeared did she start a gofundme page - or were donations from saps just supposed to go to the PO Box?

She invited people over Facebook and did I miss it? Did she get any responses? That’s a pretty lazy way to invite people to your wedding -you could at least take a couple of days and give people a call or something if you can’t afford invitations. it seems so impersonal. I don’t know if I would’ve gone either unless it was my sister.

It's weird and people just don't do this. You invited people on the internet AND they didn't RSVP and you're shocked that nobody showed up? I get that postage is expensive, but send paper invitations and confirm your guest list in advance so you know who's actually coming. This is completely on the couple because the assumed that people would read the emails and they didn't follow up when they didn't get responses. Or am I missing something?

I grew up in St Helens. The jeans on the groom is not surprising. This is a weird situation, tho. I cannot imagine so many people standing her up without notice like that. So she invited 75 guests, 25 confirmed, and only 5 showed up. That’s unfortunate, but as the saying goes: now she knows who her true friends are. Of course, sometimes you can be unlucky, and all the guests could genuinely fall ill or be prevented from attending, but not letting her know is definitely a clear message. She had a wonderful though. All the best to her.

Groom shows up for his wedding in jeans and maybe a spit cup in his back pocket? Maybe comb your hair, my man? The effort he put in is one clue point. So much information has been withheld.

I do have to say that black and silver balloons seems like an odd choice for a wedding.

Apparently non-stop obsessing over your wonderful wedding for months before time is not enough to entice people to attend a hullaballoo at the local VA Post. How long after the "viral video" appeared did she start a gofundme page - or were donations from saps just supposed to go to the PO Box?

Unfortunately for me, this reads like bad AI fiction. Or maybe everyone was religious and got raptured that very same morning.

This has to be fake. Giving a po box and address to get gifts from Randoms for sympathy. Or no one did come because she pulls stunts like this all the time and family and friends are sick of it

Venue is suspiciously large for the number of guests invited. Why is the groom dressed as if he's having a night in with the lads?

Where in Oregon was this? I would go! Book it again they owe you free venue for the sorrow you went through! You're beautiful. I live in Oregon!

seems fake to me the fact she gave people her PO box so she can get letters and gifts the truth will come out. What reason would friends and family have to not show up if it is real then i feel like there is something more to this.

Another woman on TikTok who cries about her problems online and expects everyone to feel sorry for her while getting her 15 minutes of fame? Hard pass.

I have so many questions. There has to have been a reason for that many people to blow it off. Family and friends. Her mother was there....hadn't she heard some scuttlebutt from the family??? The groom didn't even make an attempt to look nice either.

Nowadays, doesn’t look staged for views at all. Completely not suspicious, so authentic.

I grew up in St Helens. The jeans on the groom is not surprising. This is a weird situation, tho. I cannot imagine so many people standing her up without notice like that. She looks mildly familiar, but everyone in St Helens does to me. Judging by her age I probably taught her or one of her relatives how to swim, lol.

This seems very one sided. It really makes me wonder how much of a giant pain in the a*s she is to everyone she knows that only five people were willing to show up. She's not telling the whole story
