Turkish Bride & Groom Spend Their Wedding Day Feeding 4,000 Refugees

For many, their wedding is “their day,” but this generous couple decided to make it about others. Fethullah Üzümcüoğlu, 24, and Esra Polat, 20, of Turkey, decided to spend the money they had received for the wedding feeding Syrian refugees instead. Working together with Turkish charity Kimse Yok Mu, they took their place behind the counter still dressed in their wedding attire and spent the day feeding 4000 people.

“We wanted to help our Syrian brothers,” the newlyweds shared in a statement through KYM. “Seeing the happiness in the eyes of the Syrian refugee children is just priceless. We started our journey to happiness with making others happy and that’s a great feeling.”

The wedding took place in the southern Turkish city of Kilis, located on the Syrian border. According to the United Nations, Turkey has hosted more than a million Syrian refugees since the conflict began there in 2011; in total, four-million refugees have fled the war-torn country seeking shelter elsewhere.

Instead of throwing a party for themselves, Turkish couple Fethullah Üzümcüoğlu and Esra Polat decided to do something different

The couple used their wedding money to feed 4000 Syrian refugees

“I thought that sharing a big delicious dinner with our family and friends was unnecessary, knowing that there are so many people in need living next door”

How selfish of her not to sell her jewellry and her clothing and her house. All the criticism in the comments - what have YOU done to help?

They found love through each other and shared It with all they could. May the Blessings of GOD be with them as their generosity is with others. Blessing Be

I think that what that couple did was special. If everyone does a fraction of what these people have done, think about how different our lives would be, and how much happier everyone would be. Not just the people we feed, but ourselves, too.

What an inspiring thing to do! You know you've found someone very special indeed to spend the rest of life with when they are that giving. I'll bet they're both willing to make other sacrifices too, for each other, which is really what a happy marriage is all about, SERVICE SACRIFICE & COMPASSION :) This is so wonderful I think I'd like to do something similar on my wedding day. Now all I need is a guy who feels the same :)

I've volunteer to feed the homeless and love to on holidays, giving back can make you feel good and reminds you that life can change so quickly, I've met people that lost their jobs and then lose their homes and they appreciate simple things, I have gone to homeless camps in the cold and gave everyone a new pair of socks, they were so happy and the next day I found roses on my doorstep made from palm fronds, I still have them! The smiles I get make my heart sing!

Maybe she got it from her mother, but at least she did something nice. 4,000 people is a lot, so she deserve to be a hero for one day.
