The United Kingdom has been in quite a pickle for the last couple of years. Since the June 2016 referendum, in which 52% of the country voted to leave the European Union, the UK had been stuck in an endless conflict as well as a political nightmare while the government tried to negotiate the terms with the EU. Even though the government officially announced the country's withdrawal in March 2017, the process was delayed due to deadlock in the UK parliament.
After many failed negotiations, several changes in the parliament and general uproar from the people, the UK left the EU at 11 p.m. GMT on 31 January 2020. And while many people rejoiced, others couldn't hide their shame and disappointment. Oh, and as always, there was a third group of people. The ones who made dozens of memes to make fun of the situation. And that's exactly what we're going to focus on. Over a year since Britain left the EU only difference noticeable is the amount of extra economic migrants entering Britain from France even though France was given millions to control this by British Government, shows what a shambles the EU and France are (who were weeping over loosing our waters).

Yes, the hypocrisy of the UK government. Everything it did, every dirty trick, every lie told during the Scottish Referendum it went back on and used the arguments put AGAINST it as reasons for pulling Scotland out of the EU, despite it's promise that the 'only way to ensure continued membership (of the EU) was to remain in the union (UK) Now the UK is dragging Scotland out of the EU against it's will (Scotland was 60% in favour of remaining) and it's ignoring the Edinburgh Agreement and the Scottish governments mandate to hold another referendum in light of this material change in the relationship. At every level of government Scotland has returned a majority of pro-independence parties, the polls show the majority want another referendum and want independence too. Scotland is running out of democratic means of determining its future. But APART from all that, AND the poverty that awaits the entire UK outside the EU, all is fine and dandy!
Despite the parliament ratifying the withdrawal agreement and the UK officially leaving the EU, things aren't completely done. The 31 January event only began the next phase in the Brexit process which is a transition period that is set to end on 31 December 2020. During that, the UK and EU will negotiate their future relationship, like trade deals and other policies.
While in the transition phase, the UK remains subject to EU law as well as remains part of the EU customs union and single market during the transition. Despite that, the UK is no longer part of the EU's political bodies or institutions.

that's how life was all over USSR. Only in Lithuania (I am here too), where was said to be major milk and some other products making country in whole union was a lesser shortage and shorter queues. There were some other but very regional exceptions and still depending on the item we are talking about - no one was out of deception. We were the best living in the union - still first to quit .

Only a Russian speak like that. When the Brits will need cheap labor they will change their mind again. Britain is the seed of white supremacy. So, as a lowly Italian and not an Russian oligarch or a white supremacist Britain, god riddance !! Global powers like England, Russia, China and US are toying with the world to get first in line to grab resources. BTW- Maybe you had no food, but European countries like France, Italy, and England, were floored by US bombs. What treat precisely ? You should hear how they talk about Russians. Hilarious really.

It references the fact that the government may sell off the British health service, and also Brexit was largely motivated by racism and xenophobia, which explains the ‘at least I’m white eh?’ bit. Love this one. Edit: for the people who were unsure about the meaning

There's the rumour that the US trade deal will include the NHS and that, ultimately, it will be dismantled. Oliver Letwin, when working in the Conservative Party Policy Unit had come up with a plan to do away with National Insurance and PAYE Tax and replace them with an 'Earnings Tax' which would be lower then the total of the other two BUT would break the link between NI contributions and NHS & benefits. Take all of this and the government's position that it point blank refuses to sign up to anything that makes it unable to lower social and safety standards then you can see why people are worried. The current government are ideologically opposed to the help that disabled people are given medically and socially, a kind of victim blaming..

Actually, Britain loaned us money to get us out of a financial crisis the British helped put us in. With a huge amount of interest. And no option for early repayment, so we lost money through that. And my generation and the one after will be the ones to pay it off.

This is humour, it is often funny to misunderstand something for comedic effect. This tends to produce a noise called 'laughter' from the audience of the 'joke' In many such jokes it is a requirement that the audience member suspend disbelief in order to 'get' the joke, as in the way a reader might when reading a work of fiction for example. I think perhaps this should have been titled "30 anti-Brexit memes". They all seem to be anti or neutral (like the 1GB ones). None are positive. Yet this is what the people of Britain have voted for (twice), so I wish them all the best. No point in being negative about it. It will only increase the chances of failures.

Once. We voted once on exiting the EU. We wanted a second vote after we found out the first one was steeped in lies and propaganda but our government has apparently decided that 48% against 52% is clear-cut. Besides, the 2 major parties both wanted to exit the EU so the main choices for the general election were exit the EU or exit the EU.

This is being book marked!! Not only will it show what a success Brexit was, in the face of a dying EU project... It will also show how pathetic the venom and hate was, from the people within our society who disagreed with Brexit. Rather Than rolling their sleeves up and working hard for the good of our entire country, they would rather carry this bitterness around with them, as they think that this will personally effect them. Shame on all of them! The EU needs to go... In favour of a common market.

As a Canadian we have been fending those morons off for 200 years. We have been fending off consistent attacks and destruction against our health care as US insurance companies want in.
