There are plenty of reasons why a company might use social media. Increasing brand awareness and website traffic, generating leads, and managing their reputation are just a few of them. But whatever its intentions are, a business uses Instagram, Facebook, and other platforms for its own gain. And people see right through it. So when nonsensical corporate BS appears on their feed, they often respond to it, reminding its authors that they're not fooling anyone.

Twitter account "Brands Getting Owned" is the place to go if you want to check out these savage roasts. It shares fan-submitted screenshots of exchanges companies wish to forget, and as its bio says, tries to dismantle capitalism one L at a time. Continue scrolling for the pics.

If they paid less people to spy on the drivers' "missteps", they could pay the drivers more. Or, I don't know, even grant them toilet breaks.

Probably one of the biggest corporate social media fails we covered here at Bored Panda was the time Burger King said that "Women belong in the kitchen." Do you remember? They picked the best time for this phrase, too. The company tweeted it during International Women's Day when everyone was celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women across the globe.

Burger King's tweet caused quite a spectacle—it was described as a misogynistic and outdated remark towards women's role in society.

At least the person behind the brand social media account acknowledged their shortcomings - I appreciate that.

The company's social media team shortly followed the tweet with an explanation that their aim was to draw attention to the fact that only 20% of professional chefs in the UK are women and that they are under-represented in the culinary industry—they have decided to use International Women’s Day as an opportunity to advertise their culinary scholarship which offers financial assistance to women who work at Burger King and aspire to an academic degree in culinary arts.

But it was already too late. Eventually, the original “controversial” tweet was deleted and Burger King has issued an apology.

There are plenty of ways you can screw up on social media. Nasty comments, rude tweets, a timeline full of misspellings and other faux pas; the possibilities are endless. And they're usually easy enough to fix or delete without it seeming like the end of the world. If you're a regular person.

Not so much for those big business accounts. Of course, corporations are people too—but they're people under constant scrutiny by the jury of the Internet. And that's not necessarily a bad thing.

This is deflection from the fact that a small number of corporations are the major polluters by trying to make it seem like it's a personal responsibility issue

people seem to think it's all kids at McD's but you can see the workers getting older , capitalism only works for the 1% , trickle down economics is a lie , ALL workers should be paid a living wage with benefits , power to the PEOPLE

Since trickle-down economics clearly doesn't work, we should try piñata economics next: beat the rich with blunt objects until the gold starts to flow.

It shouldn't be like that though and it's not like that in other countries!!! Being unemployed doesn't mean you have to accept every shitty job offered! Especially when the money you get being unemployed are more than the ridiculous wage they are paying! Shame on them

Mc Donalds in my country pays a bit more than minimum wage, (benefits are a national must) and they support people who want to rise up in the hirarchy. I've never heard that they have problems finding workers.

McD's has already run proof of concept on in-store kiosks for ordering food. How many "front of house" personnel are going to be displaced by these kiosks that work for far less than $15 per hour?

There is no shame in this--it's a very basic job that does not require any skills...it is a "starter job that teaches you basic skills and how the whole "job" thing works--how to work with others, basic skills, etc. It's part-time for people who have other things, such as school, and such to earn some money...it's not meant for survival, it's a part-time JOB!! You need to think about the bigger picture, such as keeping costs down...surly most of you had a "starter" job---sure the pay's not great--it's training for the future.

Vicky Z

The shame is huge and should be! "Training" has been an excuse for many employers so they can give shitty wages! What they are doing should be illegal and actually for me is a reason to stop going as a customer! The only way they will learn to respect workers! Part time workers need to be respected as well!

that is not how it works. Unemployment needs to prove you turned down SEVERAL jobs, and jobs that are not considered below your skill set level. Further, they are not allowed to take tips from these companies. In fact McDonalds doing that would be a Felony and they could be sued for breach of privacy. This is someones conspiracy BS from someone who doesnt understand how this process works.

I really doubt every McDonalds reports every person. Not everyone job hunting is on unemployment. I have been off work for medical reasons but I don't qualify for disability and my husband makes too much money for any assistance. I'd apply for the $50 bucks but wouldn't work there because too many a$$hole customers. I've seen enough Karen videos.

I can't wait until the $15 per hour minimum wage hits its full stride. All the proponents have offer is "McDonalds can afford it" or some variation of a 4%-6%* product price increase (*assuming food cost stays the same). What they don't seem to understand is that an increase in minimum wage IS across the board and NOT simply for the various fast food joints (FFJs). Unfortunately, for the minimum wage increase deniers, if the cost of production of the various food items goes up so too does the food cost of the FFJs. Simply can't wait until people start crying bloody murder because the price of their Big Mac combo meal increased more than they were told it would.

The American obsession with trucks makes no f'n sense. Most truck owners never even use their truck for hauling or large loads, there's NO reason for them to own one. They're usually twice the price of a decent car, guzzle gas, hog the road, and don't fit in parking spots. Just rent a truck the 1-2 times a year you actually need one, seriously.
