No, I have to disagree. I know of at least one convicted sex offender who is, without a doubt, innocent. His "victim" recanted; admitted she made up the story because she was mad he wouldn't let her drive his truck. The guy couldn't have done it--he was at work when she said it happened. Appellate judges have agreed that evidence that was withheld at trial that could have exonerated him was hidden by prosecutors. But on every appeal, some technical thing leaves him in prison. For 20 years. If you had your way, he'd never get out. There are also people on the sex offender list who are teenagers who had sex with their girlfriends. I'm not talking about a huge age difference; just a year or two, but the law in that state does not take that into account. So no...in the interests of justice, some "sex offenders"--or at least people convicted of being one--should be released.

well... yes and no. You see, if you get caught peeing on a wall in an alley, at 2 am, and nobody but the cop sees you, and he doesn't even actually see you, just ya know sees the squat or the nifty rezipping, in Colorado - you are now a sex offender. But what I wanna know is - since when is peeing sexual? I mean, I understand fetishes and all, and I understand that if you are some pervy dude peeing on the wall of an elementary school during recess where every kid out there can see yer weiner (sp?) then, okay - but for realsies... since when is peeing, otherwise, sexual? And streaking ffs - since when is just plain nudity overtly sexual? It's just nudity... I don't get how weirdly prudish we are here in the US... Let's save sexual offender status for sexual offenders - not idiots who drunkenly piss on walls or other idiots who drunkenly run down the road for a fraternity prank or people who sunbathe nude in their backyard or walk around nude in their own homes... Save it for pedos, rapists, incest assholes, and abusers.

Two of our country's most famous convicted rapists were playing basketball on the national team, appearing on all kinds of ads constantly, and presenting TV shows. Barely got any punishment at all. No justice here.

This comes from a definite ignorance. The vast majority of sex offenders do not reoffend, unlike other crimes. The statistics have shown for years that sex offenders rehabilitate better than drug dealers, gang members and other violent criminals.

And why a holding pen? They’ll never be rehabbed, so just exterminate them.

Forever is a little too much. They deserve many years, but not eternity in jail. It's not like they committed murder or abortion.
