Everyone Ignored This Boy Banging On Doors For Help, Until This Guy Opened The Doors

It’s easy to be wary of strangers, especially when they’re banging on your door, but this man’s example is one that we should all be following.

Recently a school kid was knocking on his neighbor’s doors asking for help. He didn’t know them, and they didn’t know him, which is probably why nobody would assist him, but then he knocked on Brian Smith’s door, and the man didn’t hesitate to help the kid out. See for yourself below.

Meet Brian Smith

Some kid recently knocked on his door asking for assistance, he didn’t know the kid, and the kid didn’t know him

But he didn’t hesitate to help

And the internet loved him for it

I parise the guy and the kid... but :) Seeing how muscular Mr Brian is, no wonder he didn't hesitate to open the door. I'm a girl, 163 cm tall, don't do martial arts and the society we are living in I would be afraid to open the door to a stranger. THAT's what sad. I'm not justifying anyone, nor encouraging to keep doors closed. Just another point of view.

precisely this. where i live, people use kids to make you open doors so they can jump you. it's sad, like you said. and i wish i were built like that bro there, but i'm a woman and i have a son too.

Depending on the neighborhood, some caution is warranted. But a good look into the boy's eyes would go a long way in deciding innocence, or bad intent. If the former is the case, then by all means, getting the young mind back to school would be a wonderful help for everyone.

Glad the kid knocked on a nice person's door, could have been a nutter. If that was my boy I would wonder why he can't call me or the school instead of banging on stranger's doors and then got into car with him. He was lucky to say the least. However there is nothing heroic about this, only naive trust. So sad that we live in a world where kids have to be careful but we do.

If they're neighbours, I hope this man and this boy can keep in touch. I suspect the boy could do with a postive person in his life. He was either too afraid to go home and admit he'd missed the bus, or there was no one there to go home to. Whatever the case, he was prepared to trust a total stranger rather than go home.

This guy did the right thing, I am glad the little boy didn't accidentally knock on the wrong door. Alot of people don't know how much an action like this means to anyone. Other kids would've just stayed home, but this kid made sure he went to school. Both of these people have my prayers and best of luck being successful in what you want to do.

Ppl talk all this c**p about what they WOULD HAVE done, but statistics show almost no one would do anything. I mean, we've all seen the show "What would you do?" where 9 out of every 10 ppl, when presented in adverse circumstances or scenarios, essentially say "Not my problem." Everybody's a hero on social media, but won't really do s**t. Otherwise, this situation wouldn't have even been possible.

My kids used to miss the bus a lot. My wife or I used to chase the bus down. Once it got on the highway, it was too late. We’d have to bring the kids all the way to school, about 25 miles away! I wouldn’t expect Mr. Smith to drive somebody else’s kid THAT far, and I wouldn’t take a kid I didn’t know that far either. Three or four mile radius, tops.

I experienced something like this, but the Kid who knocked on my door was older and was Mentally challenged. He had already knocked on 10 doors and was told no. He got off the bus at the wrong bus stop. He was carrying a big Yellow Tupperware bowl with left over salad. He took the bus for the first time because he graduating from a Modeling school. Well I took a chance and gave him a ride home, could not turn him down and didn't understand how my neighbors could not see this kid was naive and could have easily been abused. It was a weird experience, He was a teenager white blue eyed in a bad side of town. He lived more North and him carrying the bowl was a sign to me that I had to take him home. I was scared driving him thinking it was a trap maybe I was being followed by others, Making it more than what it was. The Mother was a nurse working the night shift so she was sleeping while he was proving he could get home by himself. I was like wow I did something good and amazing .

been there done that. But what really hate is to see small children (esp 10 years and younger) walking home alone. I want to offer them a ride but don't want to be mistaken for a kidnapper. So sometimes I want to turn on my hazard lights and follow them at a safe distance so that it will be obvious to people who see me will know I am not trying to be sneaky but only want to see the child home safely.

It was good of this man to help this conscientious young scholar. It says a lot about both of their characters. However, this could have gone bad in so many ways. 1. The boy could have been the bait to open the door. 2. The man could have been a sexual predator. 3. The parents could have been unreasonable, and filed kidnapping or abuse charges. 4. The boy could have been mentally or emotionally disturbed, and made up stories about the man being abusive. 5. The man could have gotten in an accident on the way to the school 6. The man could have been a human trafficker....and who knows what other plausible and not so plausible things could have happened. I work for an organization dealing with youth. We would have advised our volunteers and employees to call the school and the parents on the boy's behalf, and made arrangements that way. It protects all parties involved from misunderstandings down the line.

"Then START WALKING YOUR BUTT TO SCHOOL!" "You know where the school is"? So you're knocking on my door waking me up this kid is in the wrong, not everyone you see is taking you to school. He needs to know that it's HIS JOB TO WAKE UP ON TIME TO GET SCHOOL! You might be late but that is on him. This is how my parents taught us.
