When was the last time you read a book that you could really sink your teeth into? In this day and age, when we have unlimited access to films, documentaries, news programs and more, it’s easy to go months or even years without actually picking up a book. But there’s nothing like the feeling of real pages between your fingertips and the sense of accomplishment that comes from conquering a written story.
If you’re a bibliophile who’s got a bookshelf that’s constantly overflowing, we’ve got the perfect list for you down below. We took a trip to this subreddit for book lovers and gathered some of their most satisfying pics down below. Enjoy scrolling through these photos that might encourage you to pick up a new novel today, and keep reading to find a conversion with Jennifer Lin of The Bibliofile!

Library Cake
The never ending battle between making a pretty cake and the following guilt for making the first cut! The tiny detailing on the books is a nice touch; the one on the ‘ground’ even seems to have an actual spine rather than just being a flat square.
What a good day to not like eating cake...imma just conserve this as a table decorator
Something much more important than the artistry in the decoration. How does it taste?
The amount of work that went into that. All the fine detail. Just WOW.
I love reading as much as the next person, but I have to admit that I don’t always get around to reading as many books as I would like to. I can usually manage between 6-10 in a year, but I know avid readers who zoom through that many stories in a month! Personally, I have found that being part of a book club has kept me accountable for my reading and forced me to have a book lined up at all times.
But if you’re a bibliophile who spends all of your free time with your head in a book, this subreddit’s content is right up your alley. This online community, whose name we have to censor, notes that it’s “for all book lovers” and encourages members to share “high quality images of books.” The group has amassed over 179k members and is the perfect place to gather if you’re looking for recommendations, want to discuss your latest read or simply want to see satisfying photos of gorgeous books and libraries!
Peak Bookstore
It's obviously run by Ralf Scrivener of the Scrivener family, the 1st cousin twice removed of Molly Weasley
Load More Replies...I’m currently sat in my flat around the corner from Scrivener’s, all of 30 yards away from me, it’s an awesome book shop, it’s got little nooks inside it that house bookshelves crammed with hidden gems, you can make yourself a brew, find a chair and chill. It has that wonderful old bookshop smell and the staff are super helpful. Come to Buxton, drink some Buxton water free from the well, have a pint of Buxton Brewery beer and visit Scrivener’s! 😀
To be clear, there is a cellar full of mystery books and an attic full of sci fi & fantasy books.

We Recently Bought A 110 Year Old House And Found Hundreds Of Old Books From Around The Turn Of The Century In The Attic! This Is About Half Of Them
Some of those could be worth something. Check AbeBooks and Alibris.
Load More Replies...Ooooh you'd have to be so careful handling those! Looks like they were right in the sun. Those pages could turn to dust with one wrong breath
When I was 15, we moved to a big old Victorian house. The attic was full of math and physics textbooks from the 1930s. It turns out the house was originally built by one of those 19th century pioneers of electricity. He was a contemporary of Edison and Westinghouse, but not nearly as famous. The books belonged to his (grand?)son, an engineering student.

Mommy!! Daddy!! It's me, your long lost daughter! Come get me so we can go home!
To learn more about the magic of reading, we reached out to Jennifer Lin, creator of The Bibliofile. Jennifer was kind enough to have a chat with Bored Panda and share what she loves most about reading. “Reading is just a great way to be transported into the minds and ideas of other people, other places and other worlds,” she noted. “I think I read to understand the world around me.”
As far as what inspired her to create a book-based blog, Jennifer says, “I used to have a personal blog. I'd always end up with a lot of thoughts and opinions about the books I'd read, and I started posting about those books online a long, long time ago. At some point, that morphed into just a book blog since I don't like talking that much about myself anyway."
My Reading Nook
That’s funny because the first thing I thought was “this looks just like a puzzle I did”! It’s a pretty popular design, just look up ‘bookshelf with cat on it puzzle’ and you should be able to find it

Way to go daisy chain! When I visited Alberta and Saskatchewan, I was surprised to see things you don't find in other provinces, such as vegetable markets out of the back of a truck that travels around to small towns and cities, coffee shops out of of a what looks like a garden shed, trucks that sold different types of jerky and cheese at the side of the road, I'm not used to seeing things like that in the Golden horseshoe, and I hope that this business does really well for you. I hope you make a lot of people happy with your mobile bookstore... It's so cute and clean and inviting and magical looking!!
Yes! It is! What are you doing in my head? I was just going to comment the exact same thing.

Mural In Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Why am I suddenly getting flashbacks to the Looney Tunes roadrunner shorts?
"Hey! Where are you going with that flatbed truck?" "To the bookstore, why?"
Oh, you're just complaining because you couldn't knock it off the shelf.
Load More Replies...There used to be a man in Wisconsin who created beautiful wood products: little jars, vases, cheeseboards, made out of varied woods. He sold them at that wonderful Madison Farmer's Market, and I couldn't resist several small pieces. At the moment, I'm looking at a pencil holder that is identical in shape to that object, painted on the second floor
We also asked Jennifer if she could share some of her favorite books with us. “For classics, Slaughterhouse Five is just so poignant and I've always loved Kurt Vonnegut's writing style,” she noted.
“For science fiction, Good Omens is a cult classic that is hilarious and entertaining and just a fantastic book,” Jennifer says. “For contemporary fiction, The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood tells a nested story that I fell in love with when I read it."

If you’re one of those people who loves reading but can’t ever seem to find the time, Jennifer recommends making time for books. “Or listen to audiobooks,” she noted. (Personally, this is my favorite method, as I can listen to them while I’m walking or riding on the bus without getting nauseous.)

“Also, if you're ever in a reading slump, there's nothing wrong with diving into a quick page-turner,” Jennifer says. “I sometimes think people feel pressured to read thick, heavy, serious novels in order to be a ‘real’ reader or if they don't have a ton of time to read.”
“But that can burn you out on reading pretty quickly if that's all you read,” she noted. “There's nothing wrong with reading something fast and entertaining that you can polish off in a couple of hours to help renew your enthusiasm for books.”
If you’d like to hear more book recommendations from Jennifer, be sure to check out The Bibliofile!

Load More Replies...According to WordsRated, the average American works their way through about 12.6 books per year, including ones that they’ve started but haven’t finished yet. When it comes to fully-read books, however, Americans tend to get through only 5 each year. In fact, over half of the population hasn’t even read one book in the last 12 months. It’s also not surprising that older generations tend to read more than their younger counterparts, with Boomers completing an average of 9.54 per year, and Gen Z finishing only 3.52 books.

While it’s often challenging to find the time to read, being reminded of the benefits of reading can be a great incentive to get started today. According to the Markham Public Library, reading is a great way to pass the time because it exercises our brains. It’s a little more work than scrolling through TikTok and Instagram, and it’s better for our brains than simply staring at screens. Reading can also improve our concentration and focus, as it requires us to be present.
A Small Used-Book Store In LA. The Owner Will Offer You Espresso. Support Your Local Bookstores!
Quite a bit like my store. A good used-book store should look a little like your well-read grandparents attic.
Get off the train in Charlottesville, Virginia. Plan to stay the night. There's a hotel right by downtown. Downtown is a pedestrian only street blocks and blocks long with restaurants, with al fresco dining, shops, sitting places, AND at least 4 very nice bookshops (one is on a side street, one block up.
The first library I remember was like this. I loved a good rummage there.
There was an old used book store in Little Switzerland, NC that you could only walk through it sideways. It was an old house and every room in the house was like that. It took me hours to go through it!
Yup, probably smells just like my local "Rare & Old Books" store in my neighborhood. :-)
I went to a gorgeous little bookstore in a small town in Canada (Golden) that had a cafe too. Spent most of a snowy day there reading books and drinking tea and left with enough books to read on the way across the country.

Load More Replies...Reading can also improve your quality of sleep. It’s physically relaxing, and when part of a nighttime routine, it can signal to your body that it’s time to unwind and get ready for bed. It’s also a wonderful alternative to screen time, which we all know can cause us to have trouble falling asleep. Now, you may not want to read a thriller or horror novel before bedtime, but choosing a relaxing book that won’t raise your heart rate can make it even easier to get your beauty sleep.

Who Loves Decorative Page Edges? I Have Quite A Fascination With Sprayed Edges And It Seems To Be A Trendy Thing These Days
I'm still salty from when my sister carved her name into the golden edge of my complete works of Jane Austen not long after I got it for my 21st birthday!
You are correct, it is a very trendy thing these days, mainly thanks to Booktok, though I think quite a few of them are painted by people who are making a business out of it. The publishers are starting to get the message and producing more of them themselves.
Neighborhood Just Built A Littlelibrary... Volunteered To Host It In Our Front Yard And We Are So Excited About It!
In my neighborhood someone would loot it once a week, just to be an a*s and make a handful of bucks. I imagine it was some guy driving from one little free library to the next, all over town

Sorry y'all have had bad experiences with Little Free Libraries. I have come across a couple that had been cleaned out and the door removed, but most that I have encountered are (or were) still intact and have plenty of books to offer.

I can almost guarantee those are extra copies of 50 Shades of Gray and the like, things that were massively overprinted to indulge a brief frenzy that everyone read once and then dumped en masse onto thrift stores and used book shops. I've especially liked the maps, some of which are fold-out pages! I also have all of the movie videos, which are so much more understandable after having read all of the books! Yep, me too. I used to work in a library and this arrangement would drive me batty. I'm almost convinced (with apologies to Ellinor) that most people who do this are after the appearance of having read so many books. Similar to those who buy 500 bucks worth of books for a home sell photo shoot then return them to the bookstore unread.

I now have some great ideas for my "library" that's still a work in progress
Grass Valley and Nevada City in CA. gold country are both designated Book Cities. Book stores! Used, new, antique, special collections, very cheap to very expensive. So many stores. You can spend a whole day.
My favourite book quote ‘ Books are masters who instruct us without rods or ferules, without words or anger, without bread or money. If you approach them, they are not asleep; If you seek them, they do not hide; If you blunder, they do not scold; if you are ignorant, they do not laugh at you.’
Wonderful. My idea of heaven is an unlimited supply of books and a comfortable chair.
Disappointed that BP has now completely hidden people's comments if they get 10 downvotes, with no more click here to view. We are now the ones being censored, and it removes any opportunity for discussion and debate.
my ex did real estate. many times the sellers would leave things in the house and tell him to take whatever wanted. so, he would come home with interesting things. he took me with him one day and discovered that he should check things out before he invites me. one house had an entire library from floor to ceiling on three walls. the books ranged from the 1800s to present with some being first editions. beautiful leather bound babies! i wanted to take them all but he vetoed that idea so i ended up with a bag of them. i do realize that he was correct in not taking them all because i really had no where to put them except in the basement where they would be damaged by damp. but, i would have still liked to have taken them all and go through them a little slower than rushing to make decisions as to which to take.
