A better explanation would be, to put your thumb in your mouth and blow. As if you were blowing up a balloon. It's the bearing down that slows your heart rate.
"Useful tricks" maybe, but how are these "hacks"? This term is nowadays used inflationary and out of context. Most of these things are pretty down to earth, no need for sensationalisn.
