Florida photographer Amber Noble held a Blue Lives Matter project last year in hopes to shed some light on the human and family side of law enforcement.

Share on FacebookI'm a retired firefighter. This title is obnoxious. Wearing the Blue is a choice. Being a person of color and being persecuted for no good reason is why Black Lives Matter. I am privileged to rescue people from death. But I am ashamed of some of my "brothers in blue" who have decided to use their authority to persecute innocent lives.
Thank you. For saving lives and for putting your life on the line. But mostlyThank You for not denying that there are bad apples in the basket who think that "Living While Black" is a reason to harras and even kill innocent citizens.
Load More Replies...I have no problem with the project itself but I really think that you went with a poor choice of name, as it plays into the FOX news representation of BLM, as cop killers which they're not.
Agreed. I appreciate the police. I value the work they do. The police offers I know personally are extremely fine people. And this is a valuable and important set of photos. But appropriating the "Black Lives Matter" frames anything under it as deliberately antagonistic, moreso because it replicates the structural problem of the original name (While they mean "X likes matter (also)," it sounds like these phrases might be saying "(only) X lives matter," especially to people pre-supposed to oppose them.
Load More Replies...Beautiful project. Unfortunate title. The choice of title shows ignorance due to privilege. And it is unfortunate because you undermine the project you clearly care about.
Poor choice of title. Kinda takes the shine off of how good the images are
These are beautiful. Such a powerful way to communicate WHY we need people willing to take on the job of enforcing the law.
How many of these officers report on the abuse of power that their fellow officers perpetrate on a daily basis?
Of course do their lives matter, but the title makes me obnoxious.
I don't think you understand the word "obnoxious" and how to use it.
Load More Replies...There is no doubt the vast majority are family men and women...too bad far too many of them don't think about that when the kill unarmed men and women. I remember a time when we respected cops and listened to them and believed them. I lived all over the world as a military brat and we learned how cops in different countries reacted to civilians...American cops have a tendency to react by killing them whereas in the majority of the world they lean how to defuse a situation without pulling guns and blowing them away and how many were INNOCENT of any crime but the excuse of "In fear of my life " is used?
Barf. Ok, so, black people have families, too. They are the ones we are concerned about because they are being killed.
ONE (1) photo of a black officer out of nine photos. That certainly says something...
The phrase βBlack Lives Matterβ is meant to protest systemic racism, but is pointedly about the unfair and sometimes brutal treatment of people of color by the police and the justice system. I know that police officers are murdered, injured and traumatized in the line of duty, and many of them are brave and wonderful people, but the fundamental difference is that itβs not by people who are claiming to protect and serve them before doing it.
Too bad as a group they don't seem to think anyone else's lives matter. They don't matter more than anyone else because they decided to be an officer. It's a job, that's why they get paid.
Anyone ever seen zootopia? I love that movie, I feel like it demonstrates the police force very well. People thrust into high pressure situations can do and say things they soon regret. Officers so often find themselves in those kind of scenarios, and soon there's a mess to big for them to fix
