I had a lovely little brown and white rat for just under 24 hours. My mother refused to let either of us into the house until he’d been rehomed. Why didn’t I stand up to her? Life’s so tough when you’re in your 20s and can’t afford a place of your own! Had a little Russian hamster called Gustav. He lived in the bedroom and was a little charmer. I got a call at work late one morning from my mum telling me the cats, all 7 of them had knocked over his home and the lid had fallen off. Shot off home expecting to find a chewed up hamster but there he was sitting by his upturned home nibbling away nonchalantly. The cats had made themselves scarce, wisely.

I love rodents and always have for as long as I remember. I’ve been researching them for years! Rodents just appeal to me. I think they’re awesome.

I'm not really a fan of rodents, not sure why. I would also never harm them, I find calling them "vermin" extremely offensive. When it has been necessary to remove a rodent from an unsuitable environment, (one where it could be injured or poisoned etc) I would always use a humane option; I can't stand the thought of using any kind of trap unless it's a humane one and the animal is given an opportunity to have a safer home.

I really love them, but i was not "allowed" by my petsitter (mother). "i would never pet sit them!". She was in love with my american staffordshire terrier but she's afraid of cute rodents. You can even feel the fear with my rabbit (who has no front teeth) so i guess the struggle is real.
