Today on 'things that look like other things' is this fluffy scrunched-up blanket. The blanket is actually a dog when you do a double take. Behind this mind-boggling pup-tical illusion is an adorable six-month-old Shar Pei, Harvey, who is winning hearts all over the internet with his unique appearance. People jokingly say he looks more like a blanket, a towel, or a rug than a dog.

His 22-year-old owner Teresa Moll Arguimbau says his deep and soft wrinkles make him perfect for cuddles.

"I am completely crazy about his wrinkles and his skin. It is very soft, and the wrinkles are very beautiful. In fact, one of the things I like the most about Harvey is his wrinkles and giant double chin," Teresa said to Splitpics UK.

Loved and pampered since he was a little puppy, Harvey enjoys every bit of his routine: from his first times outside and the beach to a personal spa every two days when Teresa moisturizes between his wrinkles from head to toe to avoid irritation.

Please STOP pushing the genes! Those puppies are born handicapped, DNA-modified to enhance the weird looks, generation after generation. PLEASE stop the over-breeding and the inbreeding, there is nothing natural or humane about it. Those pets are born with many hidden diseases, and most of them they don't tell us that they're suffering. Thousands of dwarfed cats and dogs, down to hardly any limbs at all, their chin dragging on the floor, unable to look upwards... Because it's cute! And mini-dogs so tiny, many break at least one leg during their lives. And cats with twisted legs over-bred and their faces pushed in so much, they can't breathe at birth... That's not cute. Dwarf humans or small people are beautiful, but they are not cute, and having had the choice, most would not have chosen to live such a difficult life just because it's cute. I am aware people don't over-breed pets out of cruelty, it's just a fad--but it's so sad. Please wake up to this reality, share the awareness.

Born on October 9th in Menorca, Spain, Harvey currently lives with his mother, Chloe, after his two siblings found forever homes. Unfortunately, Harvey's first days of life were rough as he had troubles with his sight. Shar Pei puppies often need medical staples on the skin around their eyes to help them open, but Harvey had a lot more wrinkles compared to his brothers, and staples didn't help.

"This caused his eyes to become infected and for two months he had no sight, and the vet started putting stitches around his eyes to help him open them wider. Every week we went to the vet and they readjusted the stitches and also gave Harvey antibiotics and cream to heal his eyes," Teresa said.

At that point, the vets didn't know if the infection had irreversibly damaged his eyes, but after a five-month battle, Harvey could see again.

“It was a blessing the day that Harvey followed my finger with his eyes, since for months he would bump into doors, chairs, tables, beds and he couldn't play because he was afraid to move."

Originally from the Far East, Shar Peis used to have fewer skin wrinkles, but over time, breeders have sought for more, so today, owners have to be extra cautious when taking care of their four-legged friends to watch out for infections and keep the folds moisturized. Teresa uses Harvey's rising popularity not only to showcase his cute daily adventures but to share tips and ideas about his care.

"The truth is that I did not expect this great affection from the people online. I have discovered a great digital community and family with whom I talk a lot and interact almost every day. Thanks to some of them, I have been able to exchange a lot of advice, learn new things, and above all be able to share Harvey's day-to-day life with people."

Teresa shared more about Harvey's personality and daily activities.

"One of the things that he does the most during the day is to look where there is sun, and he lies there as long as he can, although I don't let him stay long because his face turns red in the sun. He also likes to play with Chloe very much, although he sometimes gets jealous when she listens to us. He likes to be the center of attention. Every two days I take him to the beach, since we live near the sea, and he loves it. He really likes sand, although not so much water. He is not a big fan of water, although I hope that this summer he learns to swim.”

I knew someone who owns one . I can tell you, they have nothing but health problems. Also they smell 😂 Their fur is bristles and can from ingrown , especially in their ears and eyes . The wrinkles cause all types of infections and their life can be pretty miserable if not looked after by a competent person .

Teresa said that Harvey is now a local celebrity who turns heads every time they are out.

"Harvey attracts a lot of attention in the real world too. Living on such a small island, where all the people know each other, makes Harvey very well-known here."

Before I assume that these lil' guys look like puppies-with staples around their eyes,- I would love to hear from anyone who has studied / is knowledgeable in any of the areas that could answer the questions of " is eye stapling a cosmetic thing, or a health thing? Is eye stapling a usual practice in this breed? If eye-stapling is a health related thing, are humans at fault for causing this because of selective breeding, or, is this something that was already an issue with this breed that evolved over time?" "If humans did breed this in, can it be bred out"? I would just like to hear some more info on this breed, and understand the whole "stapling of the eyelid", before I form an opinion. ((I gonna say " hey, thank you! :) ahead of time, if you can, and do, take a minute to share your knowledge. For real, thank you.)

How come mama isn't wrinkly? If it's because she's a mix, why are all of her babies so wrinkly?
