Bill Gates Shares The Most Heartwarming Post About His Dad On Father’s Day, And His Story Will Make You Cry
Parents have a major influence on us. Many children idolize their parents and aspire to be just like them. Even one of the worlds richest and smartest man, Bill Gates, strive to be just like his father. On Fathers day, the entrepreneur took to social media to celebrate his beloved father revealing how much he aspired to be just like him – the ‘real’ Bill Gates.
Last year, Gates revealed the heartbreaking news. His father, who was an attorney and now spends his retirement helping with his son’s charity foundation, suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. This neurodegenerative disease affects a persons memory and identity and as Bill Gates put it “It feels a lot like you’re experiencing a gradual death of the person that you knew.”
There are no known Alzheimer’s cause and no effective treatment. After being personally touched by this disease the entrepreneur donated 100 million dollars for research in hopes that science will find the cure. “It’s a terrible disease that devastates both those who have it and their loved ones,” he said. Bill Gates remains optimistic about the outcomes of the research “People should be able to enjoy their later years—and we need a breakthrough in Alzheimer’s to fulfill that. I’m excited to join the fight and can’t wait to see what happens next.”
