You refer to tipping? Employees at a restaurant should be paid a normal wage. Tipping should only be done in the case of exceptional service and then it should go into the pockets of the employee(s), not the owner. Don't tip and/or don't go to that particular establishment anymore. Also get organised!

People Call Out 40 Products That Are Huge Scams Yet People Still Like Them For Some Reason For women, almost any product with a different "Women's" version, that is only different because it is pink. This is actually called "the pink tax," because these products are nearly always more expensive than the men's version.

On a much smaller scale, men have a "jock" tax, where products for their genitals are more expensive than the same thing for other parts of the body. One example I saw recently was cream for jock itch, three times the price of the same antifungal cream sold for foot fungus.

Spend a few days in a country where bidets are normal, and you'll come back wondering why you haven't always had one. The answer is, it's bulky. There are kits you can add to a regular toilet, but if they aren't cleaned with every use, they can become unsanitary and spray bacteria. A proper design involves a second throne, which takes up a lot of space. Wipes are a poor substitute that you don't dare use with a septic. Honestly, the regular waste management system doesn't like them either. They don't break down like they say they do.

On one hand, its nice to get a large room with a kitchen so you don't have to eat out. Plus the exchange companies give out some really good deals sometimes, particularly if your like me and travel the off season. But you can pick one up on ebay for a buck. The "developer" charges through the nose and its never worth it. Then if you get it through ebay they still try to upsell you once you use it, usually touting all the extra benefits you get...which you could get with a AAA card.

I feel like time shares would work better if the people who got into them were just more clear about their responsibilities and everyone did the same amount of work. Time share fees are ridiculous but more often than not, it's the people who get into them who now want to change their time allotment and it throws everyone else off. Upkeep and cleaning is sometimes not done and it gets the others angry... if everyone in the time share did their part and were clear about the rules, it would be a better thing.

I want to add: recycling. Our garbage company charges us $15 a month to recycle c**p. For that you have to sort it, clean it out, and break it down. Then they throw it all in the regular garbage anyway. I told them they ought to be paying US for doing THEIR work if they want us to recycle. Then when I found out they toss it all together anyway, I told them to take back their stupid recycling can and now I throw all the garbage together myself. And if the bill goes just a little higher, I'll be taking my garbage to the dump myself. It's only a couple miles out of town and would probably save me $20 a month.

Gift Cards

They are a free loan to the company that will result in either:
1. You spending more than you intended so that you “use up” the card
2. You leaving a small balance on the card that never gets used
3. The card gets lost or otherwise unused
4. In the case of restaurant, it often results in your server being under-tipped due to people tipping on the after gift card total.

They are a bad gift. If you don’t know what to get someone, give cold hard cash.

I completely disagree. As long as it's a gift card for something that the giftee uses anyway, they are a perfect gift. And if someone gives a bad gift, that's on them, not the payment method. I too prefer cash, but will be grateful for a gift card any time as long as it's for something I actually use. It's definitely better than getting useless clutter that only collects dust in my shelf. I regularly get a 50€ gift card once a month from my employer that can be used for groceries and I can choose for which shop. They do that because in pur country that's not tax relevant, so I de facto got a 50€ raise. We use them up completely for our regular grocery shopping. It's very practical and definitely very kind.

Kind of have to agree with this one; I don't like the products of either company, and don't think they're good value for money, but they aren't scams. Are you getting the product you paid for, and does it do what it claims, and you aren't forced to overpay due to a monopoly/duopoly? Not a scam, but not necessarily a good product either.
