Some of this stuff comes from believing to much in the sensationalistic news media: According to Statista the 20 cities with the highest murder rates are all in Latin America: 9 in Mexico, 4 in Brazil, 3 in Venezuela, plus Kingston Jamaica, Cape Town S.Africa, and St. Louis and Baltimore in the US. Also from Statista, the most dangerous countries by homicide rate: again dominated by Latin America plus 3 in Africa. US not in the list.

I do think that a lot of us cannot read, or cannot comprehend what we are reading. Underpaid teachers, underfunded schools, education is NOT a priority in the US, unfortunately.

That all depends on you! Don´t stay at home, vote for the others. Brexit would probably have been avoided if more ( and more younger people) would have participated. But whining afterwards does no good. Start realising that democracy is no god given present that doesn´t need to be worked on constantly. It´s a gift from people before us that fought hard for this. Don´t give it away mindlessly and hand everything over to autocrats and dictators by "free will". What you throw away is never to come back easily and with hard consequences for the following generations. Let´s keep this place (or try to improve it )as we found it and not bing-consume everything worthy, forgetting the children of tomorrow.
