He wax britain's official hangman and learned the trade from his father before him. He insisted on giving dignity and humanity to the condemned. He loathed the american fool and was revolted at being made execute groups of prisoners each day, many at the same time, rather than individually. He considered the way it was all done to be another war crime. "The nazis were inhuman and we lowered ourselves to their level. Read his autobiiography, his nam was Perrepoint.

    My Dad stayed on after the war to police the trials at Nuremberg He never went into detail about his experiences other than having to examine the prisoners to note their tattoos But he enjoyed watching war films and occasionally sad things like He was a very evil man or woman …It’s hard to imagine slotting back into normal life after six years in the Army and however long the trials went on .

    My grandfather was assigned as the Lutheran Chaplin for the first trials. He walked to the gallows with each convicted Nazi. He had joined the Army Chaplin core at age 50. He felt that he should mainly because both my Dad and uncle were serving.
