I just use API Algaefix. Works like a charm. Had a (first time ever in the nearly 30 years I've had the tank) major algae bloom a few years ago. Water was completely green; have no earthly clue how it happened. Went to store and described it verbatim. Young guy showed me the stuff and I used it exactly as he instructed. I was super skeptical, but I walked away for 90 minutes like he suggested. I came back and the tank looked like we had literally just cleaned it. I was shocked beyond words. I even teared up a little I was so happy. The fish miraculously survived (no goners at the time) and the big ones are even still around. I love the stuff. I always have it on hand now.
