The competition where winning is easier than losing is that of the body weight. Gaining a few, or maybe even a hundred pounds seems easy for most of us, but how about losing weight? For most people, losing weight is a sensitive topic. It’s the “we know about it, but we don’t want to talk about it” kind of passive-aggressive silence.
Usually, the hardest part of the body transformation journey is the beginning, so we’ve compiled an inspiring list with 128 photos of face fat loss before and after, highlighting how a person changes to a healthy lifestyle. From saying goodbye to double chins to bringing back that spark of confidence to the eyes, these people in their before and after photos are reaping the benefits of their hard work.
Although having fat helps our face look younger, it's not necessarily the case for a beautiful face. Hopefully, these 128 extreme weight loss face changes will inspire you.
If so many people could do it, you can do it, too!

Face Weight Loss Before and After
What Motivates People to Lose Weight?
Shedding just 5% of your body weight, as advised by the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention), can decrease your risk for chronic diseases and lead to better overall health. However, we went beyond one factor and listed 10 main reasons why people try to lose weight according to a study by Obesity Reviews.
- 71.4% of people want to look better
- 35.3% of people opt for better health and less diseases
- 95% of people in the study want to have a better wellbeing
- 84.6% of people want to stay fit and gain the ability to train more
- 73.9% of people opt for higher self-esteem with a fit body
- 40% of people were advised by a professional to lose weight
- 46.2% of people start weight loss to satisfy their partner
- 37.8% of people opt for a better social life with no bullying
- 32.3% of people state that a fit body checks on professional requirements
- 27.8% of people go through weight loss due to the insistence of their families
After all, it is a losing battle (pun intended), so a good motif surely helps! Moreover, it’s well known that shedding excess pounds has many health benefits and can dramatically improve your health and mood. Still, it also requires tremendous willpower to stick to your weight loss transformation goals.

Before And After Weight Loss
Weight Loss Before and After Face Changes
Every face before and after weight loss journey can significantly change due to the reduction of overall body fat. When the face goes through massive change due to weight loss, the transformation is widely known to lead to an Ozempic face. As you shed pounds, the fat stored in facial areas decreases, revealing more defined facial traits. Genetics also influence how fat is distributed, impacting facial appearance.
So, what happens to our faces while we’re losing weight?
Fat redistribution
As you lose weight, your body redistributes fat, impacting facial contours, leading to a better sculpted and symmetric face.
Muscle tone
Weight loss often involves increased physical activity, enhancing facial muscle tone.
Self-esteem
A successful weight loss journey boosts self-esteem, reflecting a more vibrant and attractive facial expression.
Skin tightness
Gradual weight loss and a healthy lifestyle support skin elasticity, minimizing the risk of sagging skin and a youthful appearance.
Water retention
Healthy eating can reduce water retention, contributing to a more defined facial appearance.
Health benefits
A well-thought-out weight loss journey through a nutritious diet and regular exercise positively affects various body functions, boosting overall health and vitality and reflecting the glow-up in facial changes.
Three main factors impact our face fat loss transformation—age, the amount of weight loss, and the speed of losing weight.
Our skin produces less collagen as we age, making it less firm and elastic. If your skin has been stretched due to excess fat over time, it may struggle to regain shape after weight loss, especially as you age.
The amount of weight you lose impacts your skin. Your skin may have a less obvious impact if it’s a small amount, like 20 pounds. However, losing a significant amount, say 100 pounds, increases the likelihood of loose skin.
Rapid loss doesn't give your skin enough time to adjust. Rapid weight loss might lead to saggy skin and a longer recovery period to look back to normal. If you’re older or the weight loss is substantial, your skin may need additional treatment to look beautiful again.

Revitalize your facial structure with these simple tips:
- Hydrate your skin using products like hyaluronic acid and a quality moisturizer.
- Boost collagen and cell production with ingredients like retinol and peptides.
- Explore non-permanent options like facial fillers mimicking hyaluronic acid.
- Massage your face and apply facial exercises to help with skin elasticity.
- Sleep enough hours to help your body regain energy.
- Eat a balanced diet for glowing skin throughout the weight loss journey. Fitelo suggests reducing sugar, opting for a calorie deficit, and limiting salt.
Individual experiences vary based on genetics, age, and weight loss distribution. If your goal is getting into a healthy lifestyle with a gradual weight loss transformation, opt for a holistic approach—balanced diet, regular exercise, and hydration.

Some of the transformations are amazing. Hats off to all the hard work all of them have put in to achieve their goals and live a much healthier and active life. I recently reduced 5 Kg weight and its not easy task specially with a desk job and burnout lifestyle.
Yes...it's incredible how so many of these people seem to have smoother skin after weight loss. Guess it's all about healthy eating and sweating it out!
Load More Replies...I was surprised to see my post here. I was at 55 pounds down in that "after" pic, and am now at 80 pounds down. I started in the spring of 2015. I hope to be at my goal weight, a 130 pound loss, by my 60th birthday in the fall of 2020. :) It is slow going, but I think that's probably helpful, because by the time I reach goal and need to start maintaining, I'll have a few years of practice living with these changes, and it will just be life as usual. I eat anything I want, just in smaller amounts. I count calories, track my meals, and joined WW earlier this year in order to have another great support system. I figure if a fat old broad, post-menopausal, with PCOS and diabetes and RA, can slowly but surely manage to lose this much weight, pretty much everyone can, if they want to make the changes that it takes. Having support helps tremendously!
I like how all the transformations take time, they don't look like a supermodel in 4 weeks!
I've lost 104lbs so far! Hasn't been easy but sooooo worth it IMG_0823-5...633e84.jpg
I cant believe how much fat goes to the face, but I guess when you are overweight it gets deposited everywhere.
Love how people say it isn’t the same person in both pics. Losing weight can make big changes in your face. Can change the shape of your eyes and mouth depending on how fat your face was. I know. I lost 60 lbs about 30 years ago. Sadly after having 3 babies and life, I need to lose it again.
This post actually gives me hope, I was worried it might make me feel worse...though I still wonder how they managed to do it.
Try different methods of eating, not quick loss diets, until you find one that works for you. For me a primarily ketogenic diet has felt good. Some people like intermittent fasting, calorie restriction, or just becoming really engaged in a physical activity, whatever feels natural to you
Load More Replies...some of these aren't the same people. how do you have ear gauges in one pic and then you don't in another? that's impossible
Most of these pics are YEARS apart, and if you don't gauge too big, the hole can close up just like any other piercing...I don't understand how people don't realize that even without drastic weight loss and years in between, people can look different in different pictures.
Load More Replies...Am I the only one to think a few of them went too far? Their faces look gaunt instead of healthy.
Uhm people who are in the pictures were actually posting in the comments. So no not fake.
